I think it's just because of the news of Philip, but when I saw you put her name in link form I thought the next part of the sentence was going to say that she's died.

There'll be a giant plaque in the sky for him to unveil.

He's got to have been one of the most selfless people there has ever been in UK public life, the world is a poorer place without his example.

Both Nationalist leaders in NI have given their condolences alongside all the other party leaders over his death.

Small thing, but with all the shit that has happened lately here in NI i think its a good show that this place has moved considerably from what it used to be like.

Though ive no doubt some of the more diehard republicans will give them shit over it, just like they did when McGuiness shook the Queens hand in 2012.

While I'm not against criticism of public figures if they've done wrong, let's at least be respectful for hot minute alright? He just died.

Tbh as soon as it was announced I can bet that the Mods collectively rolled their eyes at the coming back-and-forth consisting of flames and trolling. The remembrance thread barely got to page 7 before the redtext appeared, with finger-wagging happening long before that.

Remember when Phillip was in hospital earlier in the year, I figured it was a matter of time, but I didn't expect it to happen this quick. Either way RIP, stay strong Liz.

The BBC fucked it again though. They played God save the Queen at the end of the news announcement of Philip's death with a picture of him on screen.

I hope this doesn't mean that the Queen will pass soon. It often happens with old couples that when one goes the other isn't far behind.

Naturally.

That is something of a sad thought though, that Harry doesn't have a chance at reconciliation with his grandfather anymore.

how is that fucking it
ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

Recently, The Daily Express was forced to pick between royalism and anti-socialism, and picked anti-socialism.

Mr Eade explained: “Influenced by his uncle, whom the Establishment had long regarded as ‘rather pink’ Philip had become relatively progressive in his views on politics and in 1945, he had told Dickie that he was not in the least ‘antagonistic to principles of Socialism’.”

The biographer also pointed out how Philip even wrote to the-then Queen in December 1946 to apologise for starting a “rather heated discussion” about politics.

However journalist Mr Driberg told his “friends on the left” that they should not object to Philip becoming a royal on political grounds.

He even said that Philip was “something of a socialist himself”.

And so on.

Apparently he was notorious for starting arguments with other family members about socialism.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.
