Something we should not have to do if the Tories actually removed their heads from their arses and opened up the UK slowly.

Sounds fair enough to me. I have a feeling that if we'd gone into lockdown earlier then this would be less of a problem, but what do I know.

Boris didn't want to because of civil liberties even though preventing the spread of Covid 19 and preventing widespread death trumps civil liberties in my opinion.

It's as if not opening up the UK so quickly would have helped see a decrease in cases, like in New Zealand.

We could have just maintained lock down with a slow opening up of restrictions to not endured e a second spike, but noooo.

Or we could have just done nothing then we wouldn't be talking about covid anymore and we'd all still have jobs.

Don't worry, GVH will just erect Berlin Walls around his palace-mansion and separate himself from the rest of us ill plebs.

We probably would have been talking about that several months ago and have stopped talking about it now because a large percentage of the population would have immunity.

Yes. Only we wouldn't be talking because the communications infrastructure would have collapsed along with everything else during the riots and our job would be catching rats for dinner.

Why would there have been riots?

Oh you think your serfs wouldn't rebel because they're starving and the healthcare system has collapsed?

People wouldn't be starving, we could just import food like we've always done in crisis situations.

Anger at the government refusing to take action to help control a virus that caused the NHS to collapse and piles of bodies in the streets. Mass poverty from people staying home from work without government support because they don't want to infect their families. Gangs stealing what they require in order to survive. Police unable/unwilling to restore order due to concerns of their own health and the complete collapse of government legitimacy.

Yes, I too look forward to the day when Britain shares UN aid with DPRK.

Nobody actually has to stay home from work though do they? And if people just went into work despite the health risks, they wouldn't need to steal.

We've imported the majority of our food for a very long time.

A long-serving police officer shot dead in a custody centre in south London has been named as Sgt Matiu Ratana aged 54.

New Zealand-born Sgt Ratana was two months away from retirement when he was shot in the chest in Croydon on Friday.

You know the serious lung complications rate isn't 2% right? The death rate is only that low because the healthcare system is effective. It won't be if we do nothing to prevent the spread of COVID19.

Yes people would definitely choose to carry on as usual when the health services have collapsed and they know that if they or their families become ill they'll likely die on a trolley surrounded by the smell of faeces and people screaming in pain. They will embrace this all as an inevitability, in spite of the example provided by all the other countries who weren't complete idiots and did not have this happen. This is surely how mental health and human psychology would respond to such a disaster.
