Shame, that'd be a pretty good feature because I want to avoid NSG drama when possible.

I remember hearing a theory that when we die, the last image our brain sees is what we want to see when we die. I can't remember the source, though.

Edit: Plus, from a Christian viewpoint, it wouldn't make any sense. We don't go to Heaven when we die; we go to Purgatory, where we wait for the Second Coming.

Near-Death experiences are known phenomena, but hardly indicative of the existence of an afterlife.

My uncle saw green Smurfs hacking at him with pickaxes (it would latter turn out the doctor's gloves were green.)

My mom spent the better part of a summer in a medically induced coma due to complications of a heart catheter. When she came to, she fixated on a little emergency light hanging directly over her head and in her still groggy mind, the following thought occurred:

“Oh God I’m on the mothership.”

Near-death experiences likely have similar results.

Interesting explanations I always wondered what atheist thought about that subject, so thank you.

People coming out of anesthesia say funny things, or so I've heard.

One of my favorite stories is a guy going into anesthesia going "10, 9, 8, 7..." and then stopping a bit before saying six... only to completely white out. When he came to, he finally goes, "6..."

Having experienced anesthesia before, that makes sense. It’s just a... discontinuity. Blink and you’re in post-op.
