Nobody is doing that though

1. It might (even if the possibility is high).
2. That doesn't make it the mark of the beast. The evil would be coming from corrupt corporations and/or governments, not a near-omnipotent extra dimensional entity.

I don't trust Elon Musk to finish his latest very crazy project, but I think having an implant to speed up the thinky think would be pretty neat.

It definitely would. I would just want these chips to come with some serious safety measures and strict regulations to deal with any privacy concerns.

We would have to actually develop something capable of achieving self-awareness first,

I don’t. I’m not very excited about all of this

There's not even research pressure towards self-aware AI.

People only want an artificial intelligence to solve very complicated but also niche problems for them. Why would a physicist concerned with cosmology waste precious AI resources on a machine that's also a great conversationalist? Specialization saves us again!

And also why anyone would waste so much effort and resources on developing not only an AI, but one capable of self-awareness, to put in control of nuclear weapons would also be beyond me.

Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely not thrilled with Wi-Fi compatibility with these hypothetical chips, everything else sounds neat though!

But there's not even an incentive to do that, literally all bad outcomes for that decision.

We all know this will be for those that can afford it and are considered to be part of a certain class of society. Thus, there will be two sets of people in the future. Those connected and thus live well and those that are unconnected and that just survive.

Kind of like that sliders episode "Networth" season 4 where people who cannot live without tech. live separated from the non-tech. people who cannot even enter tech. sections of town.

The following explains it some what - https://earthprime.com/episode-guide/net-worth

Yet that doesnt seem to be stopping scientists from trying to develop the T-1000

Absolutely no one is trying to develop the T-1000.

Dude our entire nuclear arsenal is being run on 1980s computer tech. It hasn’t changed since it was installed. The entire system is designed with as many failsafes as physically possible. Giving AI control of the system would be impossible because the computers are linked to anything and would go against the entire failsafe idea

The existence and tinkering with liquid metal =/= the T-1000 is in active development towards it being real. That’d be like saying the existence and development of titanium-steel alloys is literally someone developing the T-800 endo.

First of all, programmable matter is very cool so thank you for sharing.

Second of all this isn't even close to the T-1000 nor is it even related to the field of AI research or robotics.

They literally say it’s a long long way off to making 3D shapes and even then it was made with human input and not AI

That is just tinkering with liquid metal. Just because it was inspired by the T-1000 does not mean their trying to invent something like that.

You say that as if a great many people haven't already been walking around with technology embedded in their bodies for years.
