Didn't the makers of Cowspiracy (dishonestly) retract their statement from 51% of all greenhouse emissions to an already higher than reality 18%?
the WRI estimates that livestock and manure only release ~5% of all greenhouse gasses.

And it's on.

OP, you did kind of ask for that blast from Purpelia. Heavy emotional blackmail from the start, not to mention the links.

However, we meat eaters are not all heartless towards animals. "We just don't care" does not represent me, in fact I'm only replying because I'm offended that Purpelia pretends to speak for me.

I do have a bad conscience about where supermarket meat comes from. Sometimes, but only rarely, I pay the premium for ethically kept meat. I buy free range eggs (of the freer of the two standards here) because I particularly feel for chickens. I admit to some hypocrisy on that, because I know big animals like cattle are more sentient than a chicken, but I've kept chickens in the past and I like them.

I choose beef before lamb or mutton, and both before pork. Which isn't to say I eat no pork at all, I do like bacon. But overall I eat small servings of meat (keeping the rest frozen so it won't go to waste), three or four meals a week, and my conscience isn't too bad because this is on the low end of recommendations for a healthy diet.

I am not a candidate for recruitment to veganism. I was a vegan for a year or so, and vegetarian in varying degrees for almost two decades. I could be persuaded to eat more ethical meat (hell I've half persuaded myself, writing this), but probably not less of it. If you invited me to go hunting with guns you'd have a better chance than if you tried to persuade me to try full-time veganism again.

You know what would get you more converts than insulting people's current food choices? Take them to a restaurant. For instance Hare Krishna food. It's pretty good!

Personally, I'm in favor of cultivated meat over meat carved directly out of medicated animal carcasses and even cutting down on it in my diet.

But I'm not going to switch to a fully vegan diet and lifestyle, no.

I can't really see many people keeping cows as pets if we stopped eating them. They would probably become extinct in a couple of generations.

What is wrong with comparing humans to animals?

While to say animals are unthinking is not strictly true there is a major difference between humans and animals. There is a reason we don't put crimes committed against animals on the same level as crimes committed against humans. And there is good arguments for cutting back on eating meat and regulating the meat market, but demanding everyone become vegan is a bit of a stretch.

No it couldn't. Once, probably but the horse's body isn't made to consume meat. Sure a human can go without eating meat at all but the body does have the systems in place to consume animals.

The most likely reaction to a world that suddenly went vegan is their mass slaughter.
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.

New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

Yeah.

They would become useless to the majority of people and their population would drop sharply accordingly.

Like what happened with the horse population after transportation became mechanized, but more extreme.

Pretty effective too.

May be effective, but is it ethical?

Is it ethical to kill mosquitoes and insects that spread diseases. Hmm, let me think about that one.
