Trumps drug program has collapsed. It was undone when he expected the pharmis to hand out 100$ Trump cards to Senior citizens. If it’s against the rules to vote buy; have some one else do it. They balked at the idea due to the election ploy ramifications.

Nah, Gilead sounds like exactly like something a lot of the Reps currently in government would love to try.

Gilead seems like something a number of Republicans would gladly like to make reality.

Trump grandstanding failed?
Shocker.
Abolitionism in the North has leagued itself with Radical Democracy, and so the Slave Power was forced to ally itself with the Money Power; that is the great fact of the age.

The triumph of the Democracy is essential to the struggle of popular liberty

Her religious and political beliefs were the inspiration for The Handmaid's Tale.

Considering she’s a Catholic and the Republic of Gilead outlawed Catholicism I don’t think that would work

Well, they're holding a massive vigil at the SC tonight.

And meanwhile, protests are happening around McConnell's house, looks like it might get ugly too.

"This is hysteria," says the person currently arguing against the fact that other people have read a book.
The details of the above post are subject to leftist infighting.

Yeah. This is the guy that skipped on a hearing with 9/11 first responders and their advocates then criticized their dissatisfaction after impeding a relief bill. He's absolutely devoid of empathy and morals.

No, the real life Puritans she based it off are explicitly anti-Catholic. You’re limping all Christians together into one group.

Additionally, it is absurd that every non-Puritan in the US, and even on the Supreme Court, would be helpless from a total transformation of the country (somehow enabled by one individual who is a textualist for the Constitution).

No, it could totally be reality.

Most dystopian works are based off of fact. (Like how 1984 was based off of very real censorship and control practices commonplace in the USSR and Nazi Germany)

Except the Handmaid's Tale was based on a cultural sect that hasn't existed on a large scale for centuries. You can't rip out the past and slap it onto the present like that.
Orwell, meanwhile, was inspired by more recent dictatorships of his day. These were more familiar and relevant to the wider context of history.

The GOP would be satisfied with pre-Roe v. Wade abortion laws across the states. They're not going to push beyond that because there would be no way to popularize it.
