No Judiciary? As in court duty? It’s only so many times in your life time. I nearly sat on one trial. Other then that its annoying but a small price.
Metrics? I can see it. I was the part of the generation which tried it. There was no plan and it was basically “here is the metric system...Go!

I've been called to jury duty twice and have only been a citizen for 5 years. Can't say I'm a fan.

No, but I got rid of the nonsense and what I left ended up with is actually good stuff.

You know, if a country was built on all of those policies, they would be the exact opposite of thriving.

There's nothing remotely democratic about nine people who are appointed for life being able to decide what's what in this country based on their interpretations of the Constitution.

The primary way of dealing with the problems with SCOTUS as I see them, while also preserving the concept of constitutional review, which I ultimately disagree with, would be to ensure that appointments wouldn't be lifelong, that the process would be at least somewhat more accessible to the people (seen as this council should not be directly appointed by POTUS and confirmed by the Senate). This again presumes that I see constitutional review as worth preserving.

It could be the other way around, remember everything works both ways in politics, this is a Fact and I am not lying.

Maybe, but you have to keep in mind that for all the grandstanding and apparent mutual loathing, there are things the voting public can agree on. Putting an end to political games by setting hard rules for the membership of SCOTUS is one thing, but they have to see the problem exists first.

Ah, well. With no check on the two branches, I’m sure all your problems will be solved.

This is starting to sound like a job for another thread. So much so I’m not even going to pivot within it. I’m just going to leave this festering pile of a bad idea badly thought out just sitting here, stinking up the room and make a new, on topic post.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Oh it’s annoying. A tip. If you are called to the jury panel. They will do interviews. Basically; toss the jurists they don’t like. Best way to get tossed is to have “tells” which show you are a ponderer. You will ponder the evidence. They don’t like that. You are supposed to be swayed by statements, etc. I was seated and one of the first ones tossed. “I accuse.....”. The judge was funny as he read my expression of “Accuse me of what you SOB!”. The judge explained it was simply trial speak for you are excused. :D

A friend who is a lawyer explained I was probably stroking my chin. He noticed I sometimes do that when I am listening and pondering what is being said. He laughed and said we don’t like that as it shows you will evaluate the evidence. :D

Simply throwing a temper tantrum and going off on cops, for example, won’t get you tossed all the time. There was a guy who explained his son had a drug issue and cops blah blah blah. He was seated.

Now back from the tangent.
