Also the smart thing to do would be to hold off until after the election. That way Trump could make it an election issue that could favor him instead of throwing away everything and allowing the democrats to pack the courts or worse

It’s too much of a risk, because if Biden becomes president then we have a leftist on the court, so it’s best to get a conservative in on time

You’d still have your control over the senate after the election. It’s not like you only have two days before the new president is sworn in.

During the lame duck session they’ll ram the justice through

voter suppression can only go so far. If women abandoned the party if Roe was overturned they would be unable to win elections.

This is based on the supposition that there is a strong, meaningful difference between male and female support for Roe.

And then the GOP will expand it to 23 and undo everything you did. What then?

They’d have to win the senate first though.

The democrats are in position to hold the senate for at least 8 maybe 10 years. In that time they need to ram down everything including a few things that make it a lot harder for republicans to win.

It’s time the democrats stopped following the rules and do what the republicans do and say fuck it it’s pig time

That presumes they would.

Americans have two main choices: Republican and Democrat. If the Democrats look to be further away from your position (or you believe that the Democrats would be worse for your country), your only meaningful choice is Republican. If you agree with the Republicans on most things other than abortion, there's a good chance you'll vote Republican.

I don't know if Roe is enough to make Republican women go en masse to the Democrats, but it might not be.

I never understood why it’s taboo to criticize people just because they died, Ginsburg was easily one of the worst justices of all time, she had no respect for the constitutionally sanctioned right to bear arms, and tried time and time again to undermine the fundamental rights of all Americans to own guns

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signs a law making illegal camping a felony.
Most notably, the new law now states that those who illegally camp on state property would now face a Class E felony, punishable by up to six years in prison, rather than a misdemeanor. Felony convictions in Tennessee result in the revocation of an individual’s right to vote.

I don't know if he will be handing over the senate tbh.

That's mainly because Trump has had controversy after controversy after controversy and there's still a good chunk of people who will go out and defend his bullshit. I don't see why this issue will change any of those people's minds.

He's had so many controversies and still has support that I don't think he could do anything to lose support anymore.

In the American political system it's impossible to support everyones rights as they're inherently a partisan topic and divided along such lines. Thus, it is preferable to put oneself first.

Ya but my dad is a hardcore Trumpist who’s now seriously worried that Trump is going to lose in a landslide as once the post is filed a lot of conservatives won’t have a reason to vote for Trump.

His reasoning is that Trump should hold off until the election to do it and then ram the justice through if he loses as it would give everyone, in his mind, a reason to vote for Trump.

That would put the GOP on a dangerously small timeframe and the chance of not being able to get the new Justice in would rise massively. Politically it's much better to do it now imo.
