If Trumps nominee is confirmed they should.

And if they do that the democrats will pack the court. I hope you like your 6 new liberal justices.
Also the smart thing to do would be to hold off until after the election. That way Trump could make it an election issue that could favor him instead of throwing away everything and allowing the democrats to pack the courts or worse

It’s too much of a risk, because if Biden becomes president then we have a leftist on the court, so it’s best to get a conservative in on time

I know what happened, I was here when it happened. He's not going to stand by it and congressional Republicans won't care because they don't give a fuck about your precious system, they don't give a fuck about the rules or about precedent. They only care about taking, holding, and wielding power.

Her spot will be filled before the election, no question.
The excuse in 2016 was that a new president was guaranteed to be elected (no incumbent) so waiting till the election was preferable. Not saying I agree, but that was the logic. McConnell had power and leverage and he used it. That does not apply here. We could have the same president come next year. But more importantly, they control the presidency and the senate. Expecting a Republican senate to not seat a Republican nominated justice under some worry of hypocrisy is a pipe dream.Washington Resistance Army wrote:

For some reason, that consideration isn't usually made. It would be great if people would judge powers not based on who currently wields them, but on whether they are inherently good and safe to be wielded by anyone.

And if they do they Trump will lose and McConnell will be minority leader.

The Tri-Planetary Coalition. A medium power on the galactic stage, with the internal squabbles you might expect from three different species with no shared history at all. It seems to work, however, as our many exports and intellectual wealth fund the highest quality of living this side of Central. |
