Called it. Preserving his ego is paramount. He's been setting up a "if I lose they cheated" conspiracy pretty much since the Spring. Giving up or accepting a fair defeat won't satisfy his ego, ergo the grade school "He cheated because he won!" defense.

It's also a political strategy. Maybe he believes Democrats always cheat and get away with it, or maybe he's willing to throw his own voters under a bus finding out, but the consistent refrain of "Democrats always cheat" will motivate some of his to try and cheat.

Let's hope so anyway. Providing all attempts to cheat are detected, having several Republican cheats to every Democrat cheat would stop that talking point dead.

I have a theory he never actually expected to win in 2016, and doesn't want to win now. But his ego and his pride is so great he can't give up or make it look like he lost fairly, because Trump is no quitter and never loses! So he's setting up a situation where he can say he was supposed to win but the democrats cheated and rigged the election. He can walk away back to his pampered life with his ego intact. I made this prediction back in January.

Pretty much, but in Trump's particular case I find it even more tragicomic because he's not a pastor, an ayatollah or even a Stalinesque figure. He's some mediocre, tacky businessman who has been oozing "pathetic" from every pore for years. Almost every chapter of his life is him being a gold-plated punchline of a human being.

I'm a left winger, and I can confirm TBF and WRA are both moderate right wingers on most subjects.

You seem to think people must fully support Trump to be real right-wingers. I suggest a more partisan standard would be: do they prefer the Republican agenda to the Democratic agenda?

Trump is an independent who has adopted some Republican policies in office, because he needs their support in Congress. He's not "real" Republican anything more than "real" anything else. The guy is as shallow as a muddy puddle.

The thing is though... we already have evidence that makes Republicans look like hypocrites on electoral fraud. I posted some of that evidence here myself. With any luck, making that point will reach enough independents to cause a significant shift in the overall partisan power relations and popularity. But it's probably not going to jump-start Republicans' self-awareness and embarrass them into dropping their talking point, because the Republican Party is an authoritarian institution that has spent decades cultivating a base that would give up even their self-awareness in the service of the party's power.

When Republicans talk about "voter fraud" they are specifically NOT talking about electoral fraud (disqualifying voters, purging the roll, limiting voting access in some areas, gerrymandering), only the small amount of fraud we know is committed by VOTERS.

So instead of appearing to whatabout their alleged problem, voter fraud, address that first and alone. Get a figure for how much they claim is actually happening. This has to come first, because there's no way they'll put a figure on it after you've shown them the much bigger figure of people denied their vote by electoral fraud.

And if it proves too big a problem for them to comprehend or acknowledge, or they're effective with a "Democrats do it too" argument, then at least something has been established: voter fraud barely happens at all, and can't be used to justify extending ID requirements.
