Ok, so I love terror explanations as much as the next guy, especially state terror, but this might have legit been an accident. Bombadil posted a similar accident from 1947 in Texas that took out a whole port and two nearby planes.

I realize, I'm not calling this a terroristic act. Rather, I'm surprised that nobody took credit for it anyway, to boost prestige and recruiting. Lebanon's not exactly capable of responding right now.

Claiming Lebanon's largest man made non-nuclear explosions as yours when it isn't would probably make you look like a laughing stock when it comes out that it wasn't your doing. Well a laughing stock at the kind of people impressed by terrorist bombings.

Yes, the Lebanese government, a highly trusted source of information, compared to the totally unreliable terrorist propaganda networks.

By the time any investigation eventually winds down, you'd have gotten pretty much all the benefit out of it you could have anyway, and the backlash will be...what? "Terrorists lied?"

The only group that might take credit for pointless, indescriminate killings would be ISIS, and they keep rediscovering that being hated by everybody just makes them a target for whoever wants to take credit for fighting them.* So, there's no point in taking credit for it.
*: Even other terrorist groups fight them, which is a mark of how loathsome they are.

Honestly, anytime anyone ever mentions ISIS now, the only thing I can think of is that time Al Qaeda said they needed to tone it down, and they shot back that Al Qaeda are the “jews of jihad”.
I don’t really understand the exact message there, but it’s clearly an insult in context.

...Don't most anti-semites hate Jews for their competence and success?

At least 78 dead, 3700 wounded. There was indeed a huge storage of ammonium nitrate in the area; so probably no bomb.
It was apparently sitting there for six years and not stored properly.
Edit: Welding work was being carried out on a door next to the warehouse, which could explain the sparks set off the ammonium nitrate.
