He declared it the new democratic hoax. It shows where his concerns lay.

You will also see a list of tweets in the ad which shows all the effort to downplay if not ignore the problem.

The effort against the effort to control the pandemic is still going on. The governor of Arkansas said there was no link between opening the state and increased infection rates. Louie Gohmert is trying to suggest he got covid because of the mask as it made him touch his face.

Did you even read the link you posted?

Do you have anything to offer he has done things well?

Oh and the link? My googlefu is only turning up many many links of his contradictions of himself. The one I was thinking of I heard on Chris Cuomos show......

I will take this particular line here to say that, from a linguistics perspective, this is bullshit. Conversations, like political arguments (good ones anyway) are two-way events that require active participation from the listener and speaker. Monologues, however, such as speeches, or tweets fired off into the void, are reliant on the speaker making his meaning clear for the duration of the monologue.

If people misconstrued his meaning, that is his fault for not being clear. He has every opportunity to choose his words wisely and phrase everything in a way that his audience will understand. You're correct, for once. We don't know exactly what he meant, but we do know what he said, and what he said is more important than what he meant because we can't know what he meant, so we have to go off what he said. Make sense? If there is a misunderstanding down the line, then it's his fault for not clarifying his intent properly.

Or... Or, hear me out, he didn't think at all when saying stuff like that, which is dangerous and negligent.

OR... even worse, he DID mean what he said, in which case the burden is on the people insisting he said something different, making up things out of sheer denial.

Now, I must get on with my life, have a good day. If you want to take some hollow satisfaction in being the guy with the last comment, sure, go ahead and have fun with that.

That's really the thing, isn't it? Here, otherwise sound businesses are forced to either risk the lives of their employees, or default. But without a better social safety net, default will mean lost jobs, people on the streets, increased hunger etc. Even to the workers, they kind of risk their lives either way. So one alternative becomes moot, in a sense, and the other is a massive bailout of regular people, which both parties are ideologically opposed to.

Funnily enough this is very in-character, given that you are in an argument yet not listening to anything that anyone else is saying.

You're pretending a world wide crisis isn't a crisis. The reason your giving me for that response is your "definition is different". There is an economic crisis right now, you can read the thread title, I'm not trying to trick you. How are you looking at an unmitigated disaster and saying "this is fine"?

So how about we start simple and you explain how, exactly, having record numbers of cases in any way shape or form constitutes as having things "under control".

Apparently simple is still too complicated for you.

Let's try again.

Record number of cases.
Numbers rising rapidly.
More and more people getting sick and/or dying.

Under control. How?

I am not sure you are presenting what you think you are presenting.

Are you suggesting people are on top of things and infections are not going up?
