It's a pandemic, are you blaming the fact that Americans cannot go anywhere on Trump?

Now now don’t go the simple minded route of “you are blaming the pandemic on Trump” that’s copy righted by his cultists.

Pandemics don’t all see borders closing. Again when was the last time you heard of Americans being banned from entering? Trump and his people messed things so badly; we are viewed as a threat for infection.

Heloin wrote:The WHO declared a Global Pandemic on March 11, that's nearly five months ago. At that time the US had 269 confirmed cases. And before that they'd made it pretty clear that this was a serious issue which was ignored.

Donald Trump said the lockdown was a matter for governors, not the state.

And that was one of his lies. If he truly believed that; he would threaten states on federal funding over school openings and had Barr threaten to sue states for not opening.

Region of Dwipantara wrote:Meanwhile, as a comparison, Europe's economy shrunk by 11.9% in Q2, which is worse than the US's 9.5%. However, that's Q2; an annual projection leaves the EU far better off, at least if I'm reading this right.
Euronews wrote:The eurozone economy shrank by 12.1 per cent in the second quarter of 2020 compared to the previous one — the biggest drop on record, Eurostat announced on Friday.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the whole European Union is meanwhile projected to have fallen by 11.9 per cent, according to preliminary estimates by the bloc's official statistics agency.

The EU Commission warned in May that it expected the bloc to go through a "recession of historic proportions" in 2020 and doubled down on the statement earlier this month, announcing it expected the recession to be "even deeper" than it had initially forecast.

Brussels now projects that the economy of the 19 countries using the common currency will contract by 8.7 per cent this year. GDP for the wider EU is expected to shrink 8.3 per cent.

So... China rules the world? Well, not yet, but losing a third of the economy + a potential second recession in the horizon + crippling national debt would obviously be a blow to the US's position. And I'm not seeing an easy way out either.

Update: Nope, nope. This is from Fox News, but a number is still a number:
Fox wrote:The Eurozone suffered its greatest contraction on record, exceeding the U.S. economy’s record plunge.

A report by the European Union’s statistics agency published a report on Friday that showed the trade zone’s GDP contracted by 12.1 percent during the three months through June, which is equivalent to 40.3 percent annualized. That exceeded the U.S. economy’s equivalent 32.9 percent contraction, the Wall Street Journal reported. While most countries report GDP changes between quarters, the U.S. extrapolates GDP over a full year, which makes it easier to compare GDP in different time periods.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxbus ... record.amp

-40.3%. Well, there goes the other bastion of liberal democracy. But to be fair, their lockdown measures are much stricter. What long term impact this will result, compared to the US, I don't currently know.

It's august now, where the hell is this magical vanishing?

Can the title change? Annualised fall of 32.9%, this quarter I believe fell by 10%.

Otherwise it sounds like 32% of US economy just vanished - which isn’t true.

Oh I missed that one. Yes. Empathy is not a word you can apply to Trump. For example; he has yet to apologize for his actions over the Central Park 5.

Look at the date on the tweet.

He said it was under control in february...

Ya know... before shit hit the fan immediately in march.

You also seem to conveniently ignore the tweet that he retweeted as well.

He said it was under control in february...

Ya know... before shit hit the fan immediately in march.

You also seem to conveniently ignore the tweet that he retweeted as well. Oh well, closed minds do be closed though

Yeah, it was under control in Feb, and later too.

And link the tweet then.

If he was president since the 80s I think I've been asleep since the 80s.

1) No facts. Have you even looked at the casualty lists? How did he do a great job?
2) Because he doesn’t. One tweet does not eliminate all the other comments and actions. Trump says whatever comes to his mind at the moment. He is like a used car salesmen.

Fart didn’t even remotely suggest Trump has been President since the 80s.

1. He made me less sad about stuff, and left it the governors, allowing a diversity of the times.
2. Yeah, he says what's in his mind at the moment, he could change it.

Otherwise it sounds like 32% of US economy just vanished - which isn’t true.

What about adding "to"? It keeps the clickbait, but it also shows that this is still a projection.

Or we evolve beyond click bait and have a sensible title?

1) again 20000 dead in the next 21 days and even projections of 250000 dead. This is not under control. We have hot spots appearing all over.
2) He called covid the new hoax.

1. I say that's very under control. People are trying to stop it and some states are doing fine.
