Can we stop with the DNC bashing? It’s quite tiresome. It’s mainly republicans fault and state executives not thinking through their shutdown plans

No.

The DNC just overwhelmingly denied M4A for their platform even though some %80+ of Democrats support it, the DNC are not your friends.

I agree that the Republicans are spearheading the policies that will lead to a lot of suffering and death, but the Democrats are their accomplices. The DNC may be better than the GOP in some aspects, but the DNC is a neoliberal party and the GOP is a neoconservative party, they overwhelmingly have more in common than apart as they are both factions of the larger capitalist party (the only true major party in the U.S.).

I expect to see the Republicans give lip service to helping landlords give affordable housing (but in reality just doing more to steal wealth from poor people and give it to only super wealthy landlords and banks).

I expect to see the Democrats offer some assistance, but nowhere near enough, and have that assistance tied up with conditions and requirements, and then not fight for whatever their offer is as the Republicans tear it apart.

Your going to deny that suspending rent payments for several months wasn’t going to lead to this and somehow governors and mayors didn’t think this would happen? It was poorly thought out and will lead to more suffering than any pandemic ever could

Pretty much this, Mir.

Having worked at FedEx that is not really true. I was promised a full time job only to be told that I would have to work part time until a full time position opened up. And they're only had me work 10 hours a week.

Yes, you need to work part time for 90 days, because you need to condition yourself, and 10 hours part time is normal this time of year, however this yer has not been normal so you'll be working 25+. The warm body part is still true. Literally anyone can get hired at any PH company RN.

I knew I should have immigrated to a country that has at least some semblance of knowing how to handle a crisis.

Canada got better.
America got Trump.

I read that somewhere, I forgot. I just can't believe the utter failure of the government in handling this.

Nor can I and how our Governors and mayors though this would not be outcome of suspending rent payments for several months. None of this was thought through whatsoever.

Are we just completely screwed now? Honestly, I feel the rest of the world is...not laughing, I guess just shocked and disappointed.

Not completely. Hopefully Trump is voted out. If America's economy collapses it will affect the entire world since some genius decided the dollar would be the world's reserve currency and based the entire global financial system on it.

By the time Trump is voted out (if he even is at this rate), it will probably be too late. Maybe America will have already been severely crippled, with its economy being incredibly weak and barely surviving. And every day, it seems that this scenario becomes more and more likely.

and that will lead to a global recession since the world financial infrastructure is based around the dollar and our debt.

If there is something good coming out of this, the America after this horrible sh*tshow will be humbled, and the facades of the government and economy will have been stripped away, revealing everything that needs to be fixed. Hopefully.

That's my hope that Trump and Republicans are eviscerated and we can have real needed change and the city I love hasn't gone totally bankrupt and been stripped of everything that made it great.

That's assuming the Democrats will actually improve things, which they don't do very reliably.

But the real question now is: what to do about the mass evictions "coming soon to a house near you!"

I don't know nor am I sure if anything can be done. Unless they want to suspend rent until their is a vaccine which is also a terrible idea. Suspending rent was a terrible idea that was not thought out in the slightest and our executives don't seem to care.

All I know is that the future is getting more and more bleak, and that the vaccine can't come soon enough.

It definitely is and I hope we get it soon because if we don't the Us economy is on the verge of total collapse
