Maybe I'm missing something, but it really seems like a bad idea to open things up just because case numbers are down and not because anything has actually been done to make the operation of those things safer.

Lumen would have preferred things being open at full capacity in March, 2020.

"Soon" is a compromise on his part.

If it can't be made safer to prevent spread of COVID then perhaps that's an indication that it should remain closed.

There is no cure for the flu, hence why it still exists. There are plenty of preventative treatments as well as treatments for when you have it, both of which help to limit the severity of the flu, but no cures.

Tamiflu is not a standard treatment either. It's a prescription only and can't be obtained through pharmacies. Tamiflu can cause vomiting, nausea, and even hallucinations.

I think Lumen's views on covid are worse than those of many conservatives because whereas many conservatives legitimately believe "it's just the flu," Lumen knows full and well how bad this virus is and he still wants shit reopened.

That's not a good thing. I'd prefer for this whole pandemic to be over, but until it is, we need to be patient. Theme parks are the least important thing to reopen right now.

They are mostly outdoors, if airflow in the rides can be increased, and crowds controlled. Florida is not doing especially terribly, why not?

But ohoho Gen, you haven't considered the theme park employees who are suffering by not being thrown into work in a hazardous situation. How will they survive?

Would anyone even want to go to a theme park?

Same people who would go to a concert, or eat out frequently, or attend a Broadway musical.

Theme park magic should theoretically form an 100% effective barrier against Covid, if it doesn't the mascots aren't doing their job properly and they need to be whipped.
