Let's imagine for a moment...a hypothetical scenario. A scenario in which you found out that next year, 2021, will be the year that various extraterrestrial civilizations come to earth to make contact with us humans. When I say contact, I don't mean an invasion like scenario where ETs are coming to take over the planet and enslave or wipe out humankind. I speak of a scenario where multiple different ET civilizations (lets say well over two dozen of them) come to land their crafts in a public location in order to establish open peaceful contact with the human race for the purpose of meeting each other, we as humans finding out we aren't alone in the universe, sharing cultural knowledge, etc.

How would you react? What would be going through you mind? How would you feel?

Bear in mind this isn't a debate whether or not ETs exist or not nor is it a debate on whether ufo's are of ET origin. This is simply a discussion and a sharing of thoughts on a "What If..." scenario. As foolish or ridiculous as this scenario may sound to some, I'm curious to you guys' responses.

I would be happy to learn we are not alone and overjoyed that I was able to witness a moment I dreamed I’d live to see. I’d want to be there so I could tell my kids I was there for one of the greatest moments in history

Coming off of the absolute sh*t-show of this year, I would be pretty meh and wouldn't be suprised if they decided to invade us.

After thoroughly shredding my throat with yelling and screams from all sides of the emotional spectrum, I will double, triple, and personally drive to wherever the ayys have landed, and tink their armour to ensure they are-in fact-aliens and not an elaborate conspiracy.

Secondly, they will see a slightly unhinged tailless primate grill them about everything under the sun-er, stars. Their biology, their history, their music, who they are, why they are here. Furthermore, I will assert human exceptionalism-not out of xenophobia but out of a sheer need for humanity to rise up from the crises and history we have inflicted upon ourselves. Sure, we may be vassals of the Earth Space Company, or whatever federation the ayys may enforce on us, but not for long. Humans are crazy, and now we're crazy with tech.

I'd ask if it would be possible to include me as part of the cultural exchange, so that I can escape from this planet visit the outside galaxy.

More realistically, I'd be very surprised even with this year we've had and try to sight these aliens and their ships for myself and learn about them.

I would become friends with them and they'd join me in my future commune.

It depends on where they landed and if there was parking available.

What if they are aquatic based lifeforms and land in Point Nemo or something. Or what if they are combustible to oxygen and their explosion destroys a lot of stuff etc

Sci-fi has been preparing us for this for decades. For most it would be "Oh, they finally arrived. Cool."

I would unironically scream my head off, as there's now a civilization that's more advanced than us, so we've been demoted on the totem pole. I would equally unironically acquire as many weapons as legally possible, and wait for them to turn on us and try and do as much damage and go out in a blaze of defiance and glory.

Or I will make memes about it while chilling with my Martian bros at a BBQ. You never know.

I would immediately see if they would accept humans in their crew, or sign up for whatever human-specific space travel group was set up as a result. Space travel, here I come!

Because the biggest religion on the planet, Catholicism, only covers about 20 percent of the population. So if the aliens say that is the right one, 80 percent will be told they are wrong. They will not massconvert.

We are humans. We are not nice to each other, we are not nice to other lifeforms we deem beneath us and we certainly will not be nice to lifeforms that tell us we are wrong.

So when the aliens land, I hide. Not from them but from the humans.

If aliens landed in 2021 I'd panic, stock up on guns, ammo, food, and other resources, and go live in the wilderness and hope not to get the inevitable alien bacterial plague that will contaminate the Earth as a result of foreign life forms spreading the microbes on their skin to us.

I would try to explain the most important things about Earth: Mostly harmless.
