Because whiteness is by it's very nature, in fact, violence, white men in positions of power by default represent an oppressive occupying force, even ones who claim to be Allies. And because these white men live in a system where even if they are no longer in politics, their whiteness still oppresses people by virtue of them taking up the physical and mental spaces of People of Color whenever they make their presence known in public. And because they are oppressing people stolen land, all of their earned and inherited wealth is stolen too.

Therefore, the only solution that would be a first step towards justice is not only for any white male to resign from any position of authority he has, but also to relinquish his property to People Color and then promptly kill himself.

If you are a white male and do not take this affirmative stance towards justice, your silence will be viewed as consent with this oppressive system and you will be considered hostile.

It does feel like that if the equality is done not by bringing up the disadvantaged, but by pulling down the advantaged.

When you balance a scale, do you bend it so both arms are facing down or do you take some weight off the part with more and add it to the top? It's impossible for everyone to be the privileged class unless there is no privileged class.

Last time I checked, the privileged classes were the property owners and capitalists, not everyone with a different skin color. Also, last I checked, the privileged classes generally wound up dead in these revolutions. So congratulations, you’ve turned the class struggle into a race war. Glad to know I’m on the right side.

'S actually not, based on my understanding. The Texas legislature is a semi-volunteer position, and pays extremely little. This means that the only people who can afford to take years out of their lives to sit in the legislature are people either wealthy enough to ride it off or have a position in their business where they receive income but don't actually work in their business all that much and can still fulfill their duties. A lot of these people are developers who have designers and construction folks beneath them able to basically run the company without them.

Texas legislature is as a result incredibly biased towards businesses and developers specifically. In my area, there's a quarry going to be built. It has been challenged by the residents about three times now. However, as the area isn't part of any city, they have basically no protections. The first attempt- shutting it down outright because the people didn't want it- was shut down. The second- stating that it would have an adverse effect on the air- was "disproven" as they don't actually look at the air quality of the broader area, and just said that within a hundred feet of the quarry it was fine. The third, trying to prove it would have an adverse effect on the aquifer, is pending but will likely be shut down for much the same reason. It is worth stating that literally no one in the area wants it, but because they have no power to tell off the developer, they're fucked.
