Guys.....I just noticed this was the RBG thread. Shouldn’t virus talk go to the covid thread?......

Sorry, I sometimes forget how contagious I am.

I do hope RBG hangs in there, though. She is a respectable lady.

I agree, Virus’s aren’t government agents (weird I need to say that).

Doesn’t mean government policy get’s to wash its hands of it and say; what ever we do people will die. When the vast majority of deaths could be stopped by masks, lockdown/social distancing (evidence from Japan, Germany, New Zealand, etc..)

When those last three items aren’t enacted without any evidence against their effectiveness, what’s happened is you’ve killed people for.... you’ve just killed people.

It’s like a war crime, a government knows launching missiles into civilian populations will kill those civilians. Telling people the things which will protect them (masks, lockdown, social distancing) are a political statement is the same as launching a missile into a civilian population; it will kill people. Heck, if you launch a missile into a civilian population to kill a high level terrorist, you could make a case that it was warranted (war crimes to meet war goals is not something I condone).

In the case of this pandemic, there is no justification/warrant for stigmatising masks, lockdown or social distancing; it just kills people.

Killing people in policy is a crime. The issue is that determining what kills the least in policy is sometimes quite difficult; thus governments get the benefit of the doubt as hindsight is 20-20. Yet for anti-lockdown, anti-mask has no evidence it saves lives, it just kills people. There is no difficulty in enacting those policies of masks and lockdown to save lives; they won’t because it damages their political choices. Therefore it is simply murder through policy. A crime committed by the responsible entities; the senate and the executive. Who have not enforced good pandemic policy and actively warranted anti-lockdown, anti-mask, and anti-social distancing policies which kill people.

Did they change languages in Britain? All the definitions I've seen say "muppet" is equivalent to "moron" and "gormless" and other such insults. You can make a proper appeal in the thread where you were reported.

So immigrants coming up in a caravan is an emergency, but a pandemic isn’t...

If I was her, I’d stay alive 6 months just to spite the Republicans. Then on my deathbed summon McConnell and say; “McConnell, you will not fill the Supreme Court vacancy.” Then Slowly close my eyes for the last time on the 22nd of January, my final vision of Moscow Mitch’s eyes filling with tears.

Nice rhapsody there. I'd say it would be even better if McConnell is out of the Senate by then, but it would be a bit off to gloat in advance about an old guy who clearly loves his job too. I'd feel terrible if he up and died before then.

Just responding to the other poster. Interesting how you didn't mind that side-discussion until I came along and reminded people about the 10th Amendment.

The Wall had nothing to do with states' rights, making the 10th Amendment not apply to it. Anything to do with how states handle state matters is another story.

But back to the original topic:

As for Justice Ginsburg, she's too invincible for that cancer to kill her just yet. She was saying that the chemo is working, after all.

The best way to ensure that she stays alive for four more years is to vote Trump in again. She'll keep living as long as it takes to keep him from appointing her replacement.

Aww. That's about the most approbatory thing anyone has said about her yet.

I expected her to stand down during Obama's term. I couldn't see her reasoning to try and hang in for a more friendly Senate, and even less for a more leftist President. Though I suppose like most people she might have expected a President Clinton II, but that really only explains not standing down late, in Obama's term.

So I suggest a slightly less cynical explanation than spite. I think she has that thing which all great public figures have, which is a huge ego. She probably thinks no other judge in the country could do a better job as SC Justice than herself, so it hardly even matters to her which President appoints, or which Senate approves, her successor. If that runs contrary to what I said before, her strong sense of duty, then that's OK. Great leaders, jurists, scientists and pretty much anyone in a position to make a mark in history, need a strong ego to avoid being torn down by jealous rivals, and a strong sense of duty to guard against their mark on history being a bad one, and those two motives will often conflict. Ego drives them to make as big a mark as they can, but the sense of duty (to make the world a better place) puts limits on the mark they will let themselves make.

Story of my life bro. I've got plenty of ego so I could be great. But I have no ambition and not much sense of duty. :meh:

And what does this have to do with Justice Ginsburg being ill?

Just responding to the other poster. Interesting how you didn't mind that side-discussion until I came along and reminded people about the 10th Amendment.

The Wall had nothing to do with states' rights, making the 10th Amendment not apply to it. Anything to do with how states handle state matters is another story.

But back to the original topic:

As for Justice Ginsburg, she's too invincible for that cancer to kill her just yet. She was saying that the chemo is working, after all.

Actually the wall did violate a few things like going through peoples lands without so much a by your leave. I remember one story where a couple watched helplessly as the barn and animals burned because it was on the other side of the fence and the firemen didn’t have the keys to open a gate.

That's not a good sign, but it is admirable how well she's holding up.

Maybe she can give Her Majesty a run for her money in terms of undying political women.
