Though fwiw, there is a good deal of overlap between anti-Zionist and anti-semite, regardless of other politics. It's not universal, but it's definitely prevalent. So I can sorta see why she was wary.

It's all about clicks, ads, and the bottom line. Cancel culture has been able to exploit this glaring weakness to devastating effect. What America needs is a state-subsidized, independent news broadcaster modeled on the BBC that is less susceptible to these kinds of degrading, neoliberal, economic pressures and is able to set a higher bar for quality news coverage with less divisive political punditry across the country. The other privately-owned, fake news media companies will either fall in line very quickly or risk folding. I'm looking at Fox News and CNN, among others.

The BBC is probably the main reason British broadcast media is not the kind of dumpster fire that it is Stateside.

As for Bari Weiss, she seems alright to me. She's a moderate, left-leaning liberal columnist, and for that, she's guilty of rightist sedition and subversion in the eyes of her more radical colleagues. Good on her for making a stand.
