Authorities are searching for the Mayor of Seoul, capital of South Korea after he vanished amid sexual harassment allegations after giving his daughter a message that she described as sounding like a will, police said.

Police said they were looking for Mayor Park Won-soon near a small hill in Seoul’s Sungbuk neighborhood where his cellphone signal was last detected. They said the phone was currently turned off.

Few other details are known.

I hope he is alright and is found soon. The whole thing is very strange and its difficult to draw any conclusions. A mayor of a major world capital going missing is a very big deal. Your thoughts NSG on this bizarre story?

I do hope the mayor is ok.

My thoughts are that he, for some reason, thought his life was in danger, and went into hiding. That would explain the "will" his daughter speaks of. Idk, this is a weird story.

Why would he think that?

The Lizardman High Command has recalled him.

Seriously hope he's fine. Sounds like a weird case, though South Korea has... weird politics. There's a nonzero chance a cult is unironically involved somehow.

I don't know. I'm just trying to reason it out. I mean, if he killed himself, why hide? I bet he's alive and hiding. I hope they find him as soon as they can.

It's not that bizarre. There has been a tendency throughout millennia of human history of people in the public eye offing themselves when they are caught up in a scandal where they see that the only other end result will be their downfall.

Can't say for certain that it is the case here, but I can bet my bottom dollar that the police are working under that assumption during the search.

...this makes no sense lol, is a dead person capable of "hiding" (what is usually considered an active activity)?

Sounds like he left to commit suicide somewhere. Would not be surprised if he’s found dead.

A lot of people go somewhere isolated to kill themselves

Holy cosmos. It also seems like that Mayor Park is a really strong contender for the 2022 presidential election and a nationally popular liberal figure. My situation at home is somewhat similar, with the current governor of the capital city (which I loathe) is very popular, especially with Islamist circles, and is a strong contender for being the next presidential candidate. If he went missing out of the blue due to sexual allegations, the fallout will blow up so big I can't possibly start to grasp it.

Please read again. The poster was comparing to their city, which is Islamist. Not seoul.

Rofl. But yeah, although I'm definitely not an expert in South Korean politics, this situation might be comparable with having Elizabeth Warren or whatnot accused of sexual misconduct, and then she just go missing. Imagine the reaction.

After the 2016 South Korean political scandal it’s probably something mental again

I skimmed-and-scanned. I don't think I noticed the "My situation home" part.
