this is due entirely to population pressure on environment, partially encroachment on and loss of habitats required by species diversity, but also excessive rates of consumption of a diversity of resources, also resulting from human population levels. carbon emissions, again do to population and consumption requirements, driving what is called climate change or global warming (terms which have a narrower focus then the actual scope of the issue, though completely valid as to what they characterize).
it really is ultimately the environment, and our impact on it. the irresistable force of population expansion really is unsustainable,
and unsustainable means that unavoidably nature will make 'corrections'. the current plague is yet another 'shot across our bow'.
this is the beginning edge of eco-pocalypse. this is just a warm up though. our species will have undergone major evolutionary changes before the real root of this, will have been ultimately resolved. i have some conjectures as to what forms this may take, but i would have to live an unnaturally long and unlikely life to be around to see them. quite possibly nothing recognizable as today's human species will.
to put it bluntly, we should not be at all surprised that we have a price to pay for disregarding logic and science, nor is one government nor one ideology to blame.

Mass flooding in Australia happened in Feburary. It ended the drought for most of the country. Mass floods also happened in the USA. Now it's happening in China. **Sideshow Bob stepping on rake noises**

Yeah Australia is quaint and all. But its the ass end of nowhere and doesn't really count for much.
I was thinking like China, Europe, USA or Russia flooding. Somewhere important.
