I can't say on r/consumeproduct beacuse I didn't visit it before it was nuked but if you think 2000 is alot of echo chambers you really don't know just how far this cancer has spread to not only American democracy but to almost all of the worlds politics.
Dude, I'm as bitter a summer child as can be. And it is for that exact reason I believe that 2000-subreddit banwaves don't happen without the admins taking anybody they simply don't like out of the picture along with the actual echos.
I mean, r/TheDonald was already a dead husk after getting quarantined, remodded etc, so I don't mind that - but tons of subreddits simply posting edgy memes or dissenting from Reddit's official stance were undoubtedly wiped away.
And besides, it's not like there aren't actual echochambers left - like r/worldnews, or r/politics - but considering that every "cheetobad" post results in people with too much available money buying up tons of expensive virtual awards from Reddit, of course they're not going to ban those.
