I enjoyed that subreddit immensely. There was a lot of good posting in there. But lines were crossed repeatedly and, even with the veil of irony, a lot of the discourse there wasn't helpful or healthy.

It's the name of a left-wing comedy(?) podcast. The podcast is pretty good, I think. Some really fun bits as they rage at the small world of NYT op-ed writers and such.

The podcasts' hosts are Bernie supporters, but over time the sub itself basically became a mixture of Bernie supporters, revolutionary leftists and doomers.

The subreddit is mostly rose twitterers and tankies who constantly complained about the democratic party, the DNC, and the rich. They probably got banned for constantly talking about murdering all of the people they disagree with.

From what I recall, Reddit admins held the CTH mods responsible for not keeping those posters in check enough. That was how the sub ended up getting quarantined. The community remained very active, but it was kind of implicitly agreed by everyone there that their days were numbered even if the mods and the posters tried to do better.

I think the issue there was that, if the person posting their fantasy worded it in a specific way, they could have been construed as not just fantasizing about murder, but to be actually advocating, threatening or conspiring to commit murder, in which case Reddit itself could get in trouble for not doing anything.
