They're total dipshits. This argument only makes sense if applied equally and without bias. The way I see it, I can't even support banning jihadist content because that is hypocritical.

I dunno man, I wouldn't describe most mainstream media as leftist in any real sense. Sympathetic to social liberal causes, maybe, but not actually socialist (which is a good thing, mind). I don't see why government should step in to decide what content private platforms should not regulate, either. Privatized social credit would require competing companies to work together too much for it to really be feasible, and maybe I'm naive but I can't see every Democrat in Congress supporting such a thing either.

The thing is, this is literally a positive of reddit.
If they want their little echo chamber they can have their little echo chamber, and we don't need to look at it. I didn't know this sub existed until you mentioned it today, so it does not affect my life in any way shape or form thus I have no reason to be outraged. The trans people who complained about gender critical also didn't have to look at that sub, it did not affect their lives. They were acting in bad faith.

We've seen that companies don't particularly care about image when it doesn't affect their bottom line. Which leads us to the question, "how would retaining these subreddits affect Reddit's ability to make money?".

And the answer there is fairly simple, continuing to host the subreddits in question would result in other companies pulling their ads from Reddit. So, if "companies don't particularly care about image when it doesn't affect their bottom line", that leads us to a new question "how would running ads in association with the now banned content lead to financial loss?".

Well, running ads next to content that the general public doesn't like can expose companies to unwanted liability. They might get a negative news story about their ads appearing on questionable material. Or, perhaps worse, costumers seeing where you advertise get angry and boycott your products. Just reverse that saying from a few years back- It's now get woke or go broke.

All this to say that platforms have to dance a line- If they don't take action fast enough? Take the example of YouTube, who faced the terror of the adpocalypse after this story broke about ads being played on videos associated with white supremacists and pedophiles. If they take action that is too widespread? You get tumblr, where a ban on adult content basically halved activity on the platform.

As for Reddit and what they're specifically doing? Well, I'm going to roll with it. If Reddit turns into a mob of minorities telling me 'ur pp smol' because I'm white, I'd be somewhat surprised to say the least. But if my hunch is correct, society is at the point where telling r/theDonald users to buy dish soup is no longer profitable, and that, to me, seems like an optimistic sign for an otherwise rather trash year.

Black users badmouthing whites just because they can, may indeed not be much of a problem. But then consider that Reddit has no idea if you're black or white, and trolls don't care who they get a rise out of just so long as they can ... I don't think the exception denying majorities protection will last long at all.

Seems tumblr hit the skids because of an overly-aggressive porn algorithm required by Apple. And Apple is a kind of meta-brand, or bundle of aps, that tumblr could not live without. Or could they? It might have been just a bad business decision.

So in your example, we could just apply the test of proportionality to YouTube's policy and let a court figure out whether the argument flies. This is not a new concept. The Equality Act 2010 in the UK is based on precisely this system that I'm suggesting should be extended to discrimination based on political conscience.

Ma Bell Treatment took from 1949 to 1982 to actually break up Bell.

I do not think we could keep the suit going for 33 years it would need to win. A new pro business president would get elected and agree to pay Ma google's attorney fees.

It is also worth noting Bell did a lot more nasty monopoly stuff. If you bought a non bell telephone to get it to work you would have to send it to bell to rewire (you paid a fee), and then pay a monthly service fee for using a non bell telephone.
