Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden... all the places, all the nature scenery that my eyes could ever conceive and take.

I might visit France, Italy, Germany, etc, etc, as well, but I would totally love to live in those countries mentioned above, alongside Burma as my first and foremost home. I might just buy a plot of land, build a house there, and live. :3

Italy or Switzerland. I love the place I live right now, but it’s too cold.

I'd probably feel right at home in some remote corner of Iceland. Another place where I'd love to live is the Greek isle of Corfu. I like the former for its isolation and natural beauty, and the latter for the nice weather, mountaineous / hilly terrain and warm beaches.

Well, I'd have to know the climate and geography, firstly. Which I don't.

As a general rule, I would look for somewhere without extremes of temperature but, to be fair, I live somewhere like that now. For all I know I might like snowy winters that drop below freezing (10 C is a very cold day here), although I do know I don't like it much beyond, hmm, maybe 25 C.

In terms of geography... flat places are freaky.

Actually, somewhere with weak sun, please. It sucks putting on sunblock all the time.

If I somehow had the money to, I think I'll move somewhere in small town America or Canada. Somewhere along the likes of Nebraska, Colorado, Idaho, or rural BC. Something about living in the countryside is rather appealing to me, or I just heard too much "Home on the Range" back then... where I currently live, we don't have those vast cornfields and wheatfields, mountains topped with glimmering snow, deers and birds (and probably bears) popping out in your backyard occassionally, and a nice small old town to top it off. It might be a bit boring, but I wouldn't mind.

Singapore isn't Myanmar, they got literally tons of AC there it feels more like Italy or Spain. And of course mosquitoes and roaches wouldn't want to be in Singapore. The country is just too very clean for that.

Sorry but in my exp Singapore climate feels like everywhere else in SEA.

Sure there is a lot of a/c... indoors.

Really? I've been to Singapore and I found it more akin to Athens or Naples than Jakarta or KL. The city plan is European-style and there is a lot of British buildings around. The climate is not too unbearably hot like other SEA capital cities (that maybe coming from the urban heat island's, because for example people in Jakarta and KL travel more by car while Singaporeans by their mass transit options).

I don't think there's any meaningful climate difference between KL and Singapore.

KL has more pollution, that's true, but it's not related to the climate. KL is a very well airconditioned city as well (if you have money). Inside the buildings the climate is no different - outside there is.

edit: unless there's smog, KL and Jakarta feel worse [Ive not been to Jakarta tbf] because of the pollution, not the weather or climate

Bangkok is MUCH worse than either KL or Singapore in my opinion purely because the pollution is worse. The actual avg daily rolling temp/humidity is mostly the same (Bangkok in April though :|)

Ugh. Not the tropics. Anywhere but here, except Singapore and *maybe* KL and Penang. Bukit Bintang and KLCC in the downtown area are actually pretty nice places to visit. Parts of Penang are pretty decent too, especially Tanjong Bungah and Tanjong Tokong with their nice, upmarket, beachfront condominiums in the northeastern part of Penang Island as well as the new Batu Kawan bedroom community currently under development on the mainland (Province Wellesley) that is home to a major IKEA shopping mall.

The rest of SEA, including Sarawak where I currently live, sucks balls although I will grant that the Borneo sunset is among the most beautiful in the world. Sarawak used to have really nice beaches too. Rising sea levels in recent years have erased them from existence. One other thing I've noticed is that West Malaysia and Indochina tend to be far more sticky and humid than East Malaysia.

The same is true of subtropical Hong Kong during the summer months. In fact, Summer in HK is objectively hotter and more humid than most of SEA from roughly late May to early September. Only the unparalleled local dishes and HK's status as a First World country and world-class city are sufficient to offset the oppressive summers. If we include cuisine in the mix, Hong Kong, the city I was born and raised in and remain fiercely loyal to, wins uncontested.

Barring politics, a very high degree of human development a la HK/S'pore is the only thing that can outweigh the cons of living in the tropics. I'm assuming human geography is covered by the OP.

My ideal location would include at least one major harbor, a prominent skyline, and snow-capped mountains accompanied by a temperate climate with cold, snowy winters i.e. Vancouver. The vegetation would consist of evergreen, boreal vegetation. Wild critters would include herbivorous bears and wolves. Christmases would always be white and snowy. The HK-style condominiums situated in downtown Vancouver would be an ideal place to settle down permanently. Such a location would be closely reminiscent of HK minus the oppressive summers and oppressive CCP scumbag regime. Minus the CCP, only the food and childhood memories would be sufficient to lure me back to HK, leaving me torn.

Alternately, I could live someplace more rural. Queenstown, NZ possesses many of the same characteristics except insofar as the town is much smaller, the altitude is much higher, and instead of the sea, there are lakes. The fjords of South Island are not too far from Queenstown. The boat rides and icy waterfalls are absolutely spectacular. Just be sure to hire the right kind of bus driver for the long but extremely scenic, Middle-Earth trip to and from the fjords to avoid getting motion sickness as I did. Based purely on geography and climate alone, New Zealand is one of my favorite candidates, rivaled only by Canada, Norway, and Japan.

I'm gonna guess its the wind. Both Sabah and Sarawak get wind. I mean Sabah isn't called land below the wind for nothing. It can be pretty breezy - a lot of houses built at a higher elevation as well. Certainly in April - May the actual temperature in East Msia is not lower. So it must be something else.

Bangkok is literally hell on earth in April though.

Last time I was in Singapore, the streets of Little India were strewn with litter. HK post-SARS is so much cleaner. HK during the summer months is also objectively hotter than Singapore all year round. East Malaysia feels cooler for some reason. Here, we get the full blast of the northeast monsoon during the winter months in the form of endless precipitation.

Obviously, HK, KL, and S'pore are exactly identical indoors where A/C is the norm. HK only diverges from SEA in winter and A/C is used far less often if at all, especially in residential buildings and on very cold days.
