You ever have that weird sixth sense like feeling that something is wrong? I've had that for the last four or five days and I used to call it anxiety but now I know what it is.

It's dread. Pure dread and a feeling of the world being a less friendly place than originally I even thought it was.

Love you Granpa :p

Don't you already have a nice woman?

She’s very nice but marriage and kids aren’t on the agenda at the moment. I also don’t want to raise kids in America. No offense to the Yanks of course, you have a perfectly lovely country most days.

I mean, with the state of the country right now? That is perfectly fair.

America is not dead yet, but four more years of Trump should get the nation a lot closer to collapse.

It’s more that I’d rather they see themselves as African first and not American. American schools have a way of squeezing out ethnic identity in children.

Aw. That is actually really wholesome.

I agree, he has his priorities straight.

This job application asked me to explain my gaps in employment, which soon will be going on 4 years.

Mom told me to lie that I took time off to look after my sick grandma.

...I don't think I've ever felt prouder to be related to her.

Why is that such a bad thing? Why is a few moments' delay the worst thing in the world if it helps a child -- someone dependent on you -- gain understanding?

Actually, I truly didn't sit up reading half the night when I was a kid. But, then, while I did have a bedtime when I was little, I remember negotiating it with my parents to have ample time for both TV and reading (so that may have made a difference).

Speaking as a former child myself (or current child, depending on who is asked), they generally either don't really want answers or they will keep asking questions for hours. That would actually be a problem because it's a waste of time. They should be able to trust their parents instead.

"Just believe, obey and trust" is a terrible thing to tell a child. But I've already explained why. You can follow up with the large amount of research I provided. I have no intention of continuing this circular debate in TET.

Especially as you don't seem to wish to answer why talking to a child and so helping them gain understanding of right and wrong is so terrible (besides from repeating the party line). So, let's call it quits.

20 is way too young imo. Even 22 feels too young to get married. I want to wait until I’m at least 25.

Actually, the research supports that. People who marry at 25 are 50% less likely to divorce than those who marry at 20. Apparently, the best ages to get married are between 28 and 32.

Really? Because I still feel really young. That’s why it baffles me so much that there are people my age who are getting married and having kids. One of my friends who is the same age as me got married today. Last week I found out an elementary school classmate of mine just had a baby, and another one is also getting married this summer.

Judging by all the marriages I have observed, you seem to have made the right call

I'm a gifted bullshit artist when I want something. I used to steal toys from kids at school all the time, and mom bought that I got them for getting good grades.

My grades were horrible. And she still bought it.

Yep. With all of those terrible stories of people being rejected by their families over their sexuality it is always nice to hear about family who are good accepting people.

It's always best to think carefully about outright lying on an application. It can bite you on the arse if there's any chance you'll be found out, and most contracts have a clause that -- if it's discovered you lied in the application process -- you could face instant dismissal.

Oh, that's nothing. My whole life around town is a web of lies and exaggeration that I need to keep track of when I go places. Like that burger place near the hospital that thinks I speak German, the Kroger that thinks I own a motorcycle, the thrift store that thinks I work as a costumer for film...if I had the motivation, I'd be a great politician. Cause I can lie through my teeth.

Fresh out of college with grades straight from Hell
I browsed for a trade at which I could excel
An ad for a ship in need of some manning
Men, sails, and purpose, but lacking a captain

What luck, says I, to find such good fortune
A few white lies later, I ran down the pier
Bought me a coat and a cutlass or two
Jumped on the deck, and I yelled at the crew

Hoist up the thing! Batten down the whatsit!
What's that thing spinning? Somebody should stop it!
Turn hard to port! (That's not port?) Now I've got it!
Trust me, I'm in control!

I can't sing the shanties, it has to be said
And all of that grog just goes right to my head
Whale meat is gross, and I miss a girl's laugh
Five weeks at sea, even Dave seems a catch!

Hoist up the thing! Batten down the whatsit!
What's that thing spinning? Somebody should stop it!
Turn hard to port! (That's not port?) Now I've got it!
Trust me, I'm in control!

They think you speak GERMAN? Do you look German is that why? You told them you speak?
