I mean yeah, nostalgia goggles are definitely real. I was basically a kid back then so some things were definitely worse, but on the other hand...no Trump, almost nobody had heard of Facebook, and Halo was still good.

The drama over on Something Awful (not that I've ever posted there because it is indeed something awful) reminds me of how forums have been gradually losing ground to social media. Hell, it almost seems abnormal for younger folks to post on a forum these days. I have my own reasons for preferring forums, though admittedly half of it is growing up with forums and the other half is how crappy social media is to begin with.

Reminiscing about the good old days, eh? Before you do, try to remember how you felt about that time when you were actually experiencing it. Nostalgia tends to distort things.

That's definitely true... but the rosy glow is so pretty. :p

I hang out here instead of social media, because social media is filled with toxicity and stupidity.

Same, and social media is less productive.

In addition to that, NS also has a smaller community, which is nice.

The one disadvantage to that is that there are people who remember the stupid things you said years ago, but it's also nice to recognize people.

Yeah, it really is nice to know people on here, even if they won't let you forget a stupid post.

They're good people, too, for the most part. That's why I actually defended NSG in my region.

I would, but I think I'm the only forum user in my region, and we don't do much besides RP.

One person in my region apparently tried the forums, but decided that people on NSG have hardened hearts. So I could probably also be the only NSG poster in the region.

Wouldn't surprise me. NSG has a fairly small amount of users compared to gameside.

I'm not saying that I did take an online quiz titled "Am I a lesbian?". But if I did, I might find the last question being about hair color a bit unhelpful.

Punnery, mummery, snark and fun
Debate 'til late then chat as one
Threads of politics, God and abortion,
Ev'ry kind of verbal contortion.
