Since you mentioned it, here's a documentary on youtube about it.

is that Polybius like Petscop?

Petscop is meant to be fiction. Polybius is a 20 year old urban legend about a arcade cabinet that never existed. It was years before anyone was certain that it was just a fantasy.

There was a fantastical and brief moment of time while Petscop was in the process of going viral where there was no clear consensus as to its legitimacy. Though eventually dorks on Reddit pieced together that the PS1 was incapable of rendering the lighting as shown in the series, but conveniently Unity was.

I must do to much game design because the first time I heard about that I looked up a screenshot and immediately knew it was just some creepypasta.

I mean he did go to the Louisiana territory allegedly in an attempt to violently seize that land and form a new nation.

Well it was said to be from 1981 which is pushing near 40 years now. The earliest confirmed source of the games existence comes from February 2000, with a few rumours of it actually first popping up on usenet in the mid 90s. Though it's likely that first source from 2000 was the guy who made it up.

Yes, I do indeed. it's not from watching hamilton, either.
he was a orphan who graduated from king's college in 2 years, which was mindblowing.
he was a very, very good lawyer, and was Vice President under Thomas Jefferson after Hamilton ruined his career.

It's an honestly amazing effect. We all have those things that we remember from our childhood that no one else seems to know about. I played hand me down games on tapes as a kid that I'm pretty sure existed but some of them just might not have.

Someone tried to grab my mask off my face today while ranting about COVID being a hoax. Just about everyone else in the store was wearing one too, idk why he'd go for me specifically. I pushed him away and that was it but I'm still gonna full quarantine for a bit.

Not sure about Polybius the game, but I do know Polybius was also the name of an ancient historian that asserted that historians should never report what they cannot verify through interviews with witnesses. Ironic.

Seems like y'all fell into that.

Polybius sounds like any other 80s arcade game name, so that might be intentional.

Honestly, urban legends fascinate me for this reason. It can be hard to pin down how, when, or why they were created, if those questions can even be answered in the first place.
