I used to watch a YouTube channel that was mostly just alien/paranormal, uh, nonsense, but I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t still get me.
Anyone who’s fallen into that rabbit hole should know about stuff like the Cooper Family photo, which is probably fake but still pretty frightening. Don’t look it up if you’re scared easily.

The Solway Firth Spaceman is much less scary but just as fake. Or misinterpreted.
Image

The story goes the girl’s father took the photo and didn’t see anyone behind her, despite a whole alien lookin’ guy right there. Which might actually be true, his camera didn’t have the best viewfinder, but people have since concluded it was his wife, whose bobbed hair and overexposed dress made her look kinda like a spaceman when facing backwards.

I think I remember too much of this, but if I went back to that channel I would remember WAY more.

The Cooper Family photo is to nightmare fuel what the International Prototype Kilogram was to the kilogram. They are all judged based on that standard. It still gives me shudders.

Ooh yeah. Polybius is a classic. I don’t know much else in that ‘field’ though, which might be changed soon.

Have you watched Channel Zero? It’s a TV anthology series that adapted four popular creepypastas in four different seasons. The first one is based off Candle Cove and was pretty good, but I haven’t watched the next seasons.

Local 58 - "Fastest Route Available" still fucks me up. And basically everything else from that channel too, first thing in a long time that actually induced nightmares.
