It should be illegal for job listings to not include the pay range.

An attempt to trick people into poor paying jobs and/or a sign that whomever you've hired to put out the job listing is incompetent and should be fired. Either way not a great way to telegraph that your hiring.

most jobs don't post salary. Best you get is a range. Unless its a union job, salary is negotiable

The more you make the less it happens.

Negotiating salary is a big pain in the ass. And the reason I think it is, is because folks don't like putting a value on themselves.

However lots of places give advice on it, and on how to interview. It is well worth preparing for an interview.

Fun thing, the other day I was looking up houses in my hometown and I could buy a house outright for 8,000 USD. The house is twice the size of my current house and I have to pay 600 a month in rent alongside by roommate. I could buy a house in a nice neighbourhood in Harare for only 30,000 USD. The economy may be utterly gone right now but those are move back home prices right there.
