Volunteer for an organisation that helps vulnerable families (remember to protect yourself), you could (as Ethel suggest) work in a soup kitchen, ask your parents if you could donate food your family won't be using to a charity that will distribute it or (if you get an allowance), you could opt to use some of that to buy a little food to donate yourself. If you can bake, maybe you could bake something and sell it to family and friends? Look up fundraising ideas online and see what might be practical for you, knowing your skills (maybe you could work with a friend to do something?)
You don't have to do everything yourself. Charities will appreciate it if you do just a little.
A little wouldn't just solve everything. Luckily my more creative atheist friend offered to help, and she might have some ideas.
Although it is a little disappointing that she wanted to help, and none of my Christian friends did.
A little life lesson, if you try and solve everything, nothing gets done. Only do what you can, do your piece, that is all anyone can ask.
The parable of the starfish applies
Once upon a time, there was an old man who used to go to the ocean for exercise.
One day, the old man was walking along a beach that was littered with thousands of starfish that had been washed ashore by the high tide. As he walked he came upon a young boy who was eagerly throwing the starfish back into the ocean, one by one.
Puzzled, the man looked at the boy and asked what he was doing.
The young boy paused, looked up, and replied “Throwing starfish into the ocean. The tide has washed them up onto the beach and they can’t return to the sea by themselves,” the boy replied. “When the sun gets high, they will die, unless I throw them back into the water.”
The old man replied, “But there must be tens of thousands of starfish on this beach. I’m afraid you won’t really be able to make much of a difference.”
The boy bent down, picked up yet another starfish and threw it as far as he could into the ocean. Then he turned, smiled and said, “It made a difference to that one!”
