My standard for “proficiency” in Excel:

1. You can find and open Excel
2. Can type some things into the squares
3. You know how to Save

How to format? How to calculate? Well...

I’m familiar with Perrier. I would say it tastes like sour soda with zero sweetness. :)

Is that what La Croix tastes like?

La Croix tastes like carbonation and no flavor, unless carbonated is a flavor?

Should I put "certified in Excel 2010" on my resume?

'I was once competent on Excel and had that on my CV.

Then -- a good number of years ago -- I got to an interview where there was a surprise aptitude test in my "highly competent" computer skills. Aced the rest, but hadn't touched Excel since uni... Mind. Blank.

Protip: Keep up those Excel skills or your resume may bite you on the behind one day. :p

I added seltzer to the drink mix, better than soda for you

I've kicked soda. I mean, like I said I've had a few bottles over the last eight months and I'm fine with having one every once in a while like that. Just glad I kicked the habit of drinking it like water. It's been a good eight months.

Though recently I've been thinking, "Why did I drop soda?" and my answer is because its loaded as fuck with sugar. With that in mind, I want to drop sweet tea - which I drink like water - and relegate it to "every once in a while" status as well. So I'm just trying to find sugar-free or even low sugar drinks to make my regular drinks.

I know. But if there's nothing more you want to type (say you type "cat" and it completes to "catalogue") you can't just hit return to move to the next box. This is particularly annoying if you're entering data from paper or from another screen.

When you drink a soda, sometimes the carbon dioxide escapes with a burp.
But sometimes it doesn't. I have to assume CO2 escapes your gut through your bloodstream, and is exhaled.

Maybe burping is a sufficient safety valve to save you from CO2 poisoning ...

I'm a little offended by that.

I can understand why you're offended.

Hell, the "it's cute" would have offended me at 16. There again, when I was 16, one of my friends told me she liked me because I reminded her of her mother -- when I was less-than-pleased she hastily added "in a good way".

If your atheist friend is usually nice, maybe tell her -- in as level-headed a way as possible -- that you were offended. You never know, it might provide the opportunity for some good discussions. When I was 16/17, I remember some very lively theological debates with my high-school friends (lots of different beliefs; plenty of debate)

Her mother? That's an interesting thing to say. I've never heard of that before, and it does seem a bit strange.

I've had some interesting debates with her in the past. This will probably end as another one of the fun ones, because I definitely enjoy defending my sanity to people. She's usually friendly enough, though, which is good.

I'll just see if she has some sort of explanation, maybe.

How does someone even think of that sort of statement? It's very strange. It's not a real compliment at all.
