Fun fact, and shameless plug of my worldbuilding stuff: Valentine Z actually uses Decimal Time.

1 Decimal Second is still 1 second.
1 Dec Min = 100 Dec Seconds
1 Dec Hour = 100 Dec Min
1 Dec Day = 10 Dec Hours
1000 Dec Days = 1 Dec Year.

So... 1 Dec Year's around 3.16 Earth years. You can imagine the surprise when fictional characters found out that "The 19 year old Valentian" is actually an old fart (no offense to anyone, of course).

Does this mean your solar system works differently too?

It would mean your planet rotates slower (what implications that have I don't know, may also affect the position your satellite/moon needs to be for proper tides) and it moves around a sun slower.

I might have skimped over those details, though yeah, I indeed acknowledged and wrote that the weather is a bit more... Extreme. Hotter summers and colder winters, but not enough to drive animals into extinction.

There definitely are gaping holes that I should plug, eventually. Then again, Valentine Z always work on a mix of tech and magic, though handwaving too much would see myself as lazy!

Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival)

This is a very good cross section of holidays in June I'm finding myself in. Last week, Father's Day (it was a Sunday though), this week Dragon Boat Festival, next week is Hong Kong SAR day.

I've been talking about these three holidays to my students so much this week I almost feel like a tour guide =)

One of the amazing things about this city is that many holidays (both western and eastern) are celebrated. Chinese New Year, Christmas, Easter, Labour Day... there's quite a large number of statutory holidays.

I didn't do the dragon boat in the end (just watched from TV). However, I did buy the traditional rice dumplings and a touch of dim sung snacks for the evening before. Such a good day!

I like moveable feasts, holidays that come on different days of the week, like a Thursday. The US has moved nearly all the civic holidays to Mondays, which is fine, I guess, long weekends and all, but I still like the ones that stay on their dates, like July 4th and November 11th.

I wish I can remember the dreams from last night. I know they've been more vivid than in the past while than they were pre-lockdown, but they tend to be forgotten after a few hours.

You could write them down. I just had a dream last night that I know was completely insane, and I forgot most of it already too because I didn't write it down.

My dreams felt pretty normal last night, so maybe that's another reason why I didn't write them down.

So I have depression (don't worry, I'm fine, thanks for caring) which means a large chunk of my time is filled with feelings of ennui and apathy. I mention this because a funny thing just happened. I was sitting staring at the computer monitor when some some random thought made me really depressed. But I was in such a trance staring into my monitor that I forgot what was making me sad and then momentarily forgot who the fuck I was until I looked away. Got my self a cookie and started up some music but everything now feels insanely off, almost dreamlike. Computers don't really work in dreams so I'm hoping I'm posting this. If not I'm going to be really confused when I wake up. I guess I'll play a game or something.

Nah, fur coat color is not evidence of evil in an animal. But I find the legends that deal with such to be interesting. How people centuries ago explained evil to themselves. Or not so long ago. I live in a town where the Humane Society has to lower the adoption fee for black cats and restrict black cat adoption during October because of silly superstitions.
