This is why I keep saying that a part of the problem is our history education is abysmal in this country. Our civics education is also bad. Part of that problem is funding for it, but part of it is also that people just are not engaged to see how important their history is. One of the few times I watched Fox News (I forget why it was even on the TV that night), Watters’ World interviewed a bunch of young people about historical figures and geography. The people who answered mostly had no idea about anything he was asking, and it was...it was depressing.
