Contrary to what some may believe, no one wants a nuclear war. Not even China. Nuclear powers have warred before without using nukes and will continue to do so. Never thought Beijing would actually be dumb enough to occupy territory in India. Being aggressive and bone-headed about disputes and the South China Sea is one thing, actively settling troops in Indian territory and resorting to violence is something else entirely. It's a level of idiocy that the CCP, malicious as they are, usually avoids in order to maintain some sort of image/their own world standing.

No, China's been broken up several times in the past, with the most famous periods of this being The 3 Kingdoms Era and just before the Chinese Communist Uprising and subsequent Civil War.

Personally I'd just give Inner Mongolia to Mongolia (Or maybe even take out a chunk of Liaoning and give them a coast), Tibet independence, Uyghurstan protectorate status until it advances enough to stand on its own, give China's bit of Jammu and Kashmir back to India and Pakistan to fight over, and give HK/Macau back to their parent nations or independence (Depending on what hey want).

Oh, and maybe having the US get Dalian because having a city state in China seems cool.

No, China's been broken up several times in the past, with the most famous periods of this being The 3 Kingdoms Era and just before the Chinese Communist Uprising and subsequent Civil War.

Notably: Northern and Southern China have spent about as much time separate as together. So it's hardly unprecedented.
