Yeah he is not consistent. I still love him though, not that it matters to the other thousands of fans.

Yeah that was embarrassing :P, much more embarrassing what they were chanting at home

I watched both legs
Chants aside, one of my main observations was that Pumas' players were playing extremely dirty, especially in the first half of the second leg

I didn't watch the game. I thought that would be an easy win for Pumas, guess not

Re: poll

If Real Madrid try to go toe to toe they'll lose to Liverpool, probably badly. However, if they try to play like Tottenham did the other day (and there's no reason they can't), then the only reason they wouldn't win is if Liverpool are very patient (RM's approach to the away leg in Paris does not instil confidence in their ability to play defensively).

Obviously, RM should try and play like Villareal did in the first half, but I can't tell you exactly what Villareal were doing so I've got no idea if that's possible.

Does anyone else here follow MLS, or is this all for European soccer/football?

I bet some folks here follow a lot of things including MLS, but right now this thread is mainly focused on the Champions League Final.

I am a Revs fan tho :p

Most people follow European football and MLS is small in comparison. Hipsters might chime in with news from the AFC or CAF, but we haven't seen those posts.

At bare minimum it's about good footy which is a standard MLS doesn't really meet. But congrats on winning the Concacaf I guess?

The Conference League final will break a streak in any case: Mourinho's streak, who has never lost an European final, or Feyenoords, who have never lost one either.

Interesting to see Feyenoord never losing an European final. Their European Cup victory was their peak and thr Big Three Eredivisie teams have all won one.

Apparently PSG player Idrissa Gueye (who is Senegalese) "missed out" on a Ligue 1 game despite traveling with the squad because he didn't want to put on the special kits that have rainbow numbers, leading to people believing that Gueye didn't want to play because he's opposed to LGBT causes. All Ligue 1 clubs have those special kits for the previous matchday.

EL final grades
Frankfurt 1-1 (5-4) Rangers
Frankfurt (A): A hard-fought win in penalties for the German side as they pull off a stunning EL campaign by winning the final of the competition. The masterclass against Barcelona stood out and solidified them as top contenders for the cup. Borre equalizes and Trapp made some crucial saves in extra time and they took care of business in penalties.
Rangers (A-): A valiant effort from the Scottish outlet but unfortunately they falter in pens with Aaron Ramsay getting his saved by Trapp. Aribo struck first in regular time and they had opportunities in extra time but Trapp was there to deny them. One of these two top sides had to lose and unfortunately it was Rangers that paid the price.

The four (?) finals?

Anyway, if they win they’ll be the first club to win every European trophy that exists in some form or another today
And then in theory the first club to win everything they could ever possibly win

Mbappe has signed a crazy contract extension with Qatari-owned PSG. Here are the details:

- 3 years
- 2 million/week (that's apparently after tax)
- 300 million sign-on bonus
- 100% of image rights
- control over PSG's entire sporting project (can dictate what players to sign, what coaches to hire, etc.)

Not even Messi had full control of Barcelona's sporting project or Ronaldo with Real Madrid's. At their peak both Messi and Ronaldo's max contracts are only half of what Mbappe will earn. While Ligue 1 retains their biggest superstar, it won't increase competition nor make other teams better.

Opinion:
Make goalkeepers only be allowed to hold onto the ball for 15 seconds (rather than the current six) but instead enforce it quite strictly.

Time wasting sucks.

There was a statistic I saw somewhere that shows how much time goalkeepers actually waste. It's much more than one might think and also usually eclipses the amount of stoppage time added.

Commensurations to Ukraine but really deserved for Gareth Bale. He's finally got the chance to represent his country in the WC.

we had an option to buy torreira for a very reasonable 15 million euros and he was one of our best players and wanted to stay and instead we tried to screw Arsenal and he’s going to go to a rival

The fact that happened broke my heart

I was really hoping to see Mbappe in Real Madrid

So the season is almost ending.

Who will open the new one. Note: it will not include the world cup.

True, we can just keep this going, just the OP needs some updating :)

It's just the Nations League which essentially acts as a glorified friendly tournament, but England's huge 4-0 loss to Hungary at home has to be a wake up call for the Three Lions and Southgate. I know they chosen some other players like Guehi and Gallagher, but it's still not a good look regardless.

Girondins de Bordeaux are facing imminent relegation to the Championat National because their finances are… not so good.
The club were relegated from Ligue 1 this season
