Hmm, I didn't know Bayern is a team in the Championship! If they were, then they would definitely farm them and crush the likes of Luton Town and Cardiff every week!

You can't farm a second division because you'd just get promoted.

I guess you could always come third and lose the playoff...

I think so. what's even more tragic is "Sunderland 'til I die" on Netflix. which basically chronicles this downfall and the fan's reaction to it. In fairness, my team (Blackpool) suffered a similar fate, but are resurgent as of late.

Today is the anniversary of the Heysel Stadium Disaster, which killed 39 people and left hundreds injured following Liverpool hooligans stampeding Block Z against Juventus fans. However, there was a chain of events that ultimately culminated in the disaster:

1. UEFA's decision to host the 1985 European Cup final in Heysel despite both Liverpool and Juventus pleading them to use another venue (such as the Bernabeu or Camp Nou) due to disrepair, lack of maintenance, and the safety concerns of the Belgian ground. Additionally, when Arsenal fans visited the same stadium a couple of years earlier, they branded the venue as a dump.
2. The previous year cup final between Liverpool and Roma happened with incident as a group of Roma hooligans went after Liverpool supporters. Tensions between English and Italian club fans were at an all-time high, with another final between an English and Italian team would have the same amount of hostility as before. UEFA and other footballing authorities were aware of that fact.
3. The decision to sell 5000 tickets to Block Z (Block X and Y were reserved for Liverpool supporters and on the opposite end, Juventus supporters got M, N, and O) to "neutral" fans (who weren't really neutrals and were mostly Italian diaspora living in Belgium and Juventus supporters) is also a baffling decision. By selling tickets to supposedly neutral fans (that turned out to not be neutrals at all, but mostly Juventus fans), it basically was asking for trouble. Block Z should have been empty or reserved for Liverpool fans to result in true fan segregation.
4. The lax security checks and ticket checks outside the stadium were also present. It was present that the Belgian law enforcement did not prioritize security nor followed the protocol by checking if fans actually had valid matchday tickets.
5. Alcohol sales outside the stadium was banned, but the ban was never enforced by authorities.
6. The lack of proper policing between Block X and Block Z did not do anything to prevent Liverpool fans from charging at Juventus fans in Block Z. The police were ill-trained, incompetent, and didn't take appropriate action to make sure everything was kept under control. All that prevented Liverpool supporters at the game from charging into Block Z were ill-trained police and a flimsy stretch of chicken-wire. Police captain Johan Mahieu, who was in charge of security on that day, was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

UEFA's chief observer said "Only the English fans were responsible. Of that there is no doubt.” However, UEFA themselves were culpable of the Heysel disaster for the decision to choose the venue in the first place despite knowing the safety concerns and lack of maintenance of the ground. The Belgian footballing authorities were also culpable for selling the Block Z tickets to rival fans and not maintaining the ground, and the police were also culpable for not properly enforcing any security nor taking appropriate action to prevent any sort of chaos. The Liverpool hooligans at the game stormed Block Z and then the concrete wall at the end of Block Z collapsed, but the authorities could have prevented the disaster from occurring if any one of those chain of events before the event were broken.

Welp, City loses to Chelsea 1-0 thanks to a Havertz goal. Pep still can't win a CL outside of Barcelona. Offense was very poor.

Why the fuck did he go with a formation he'd hardly used before, no defensive midfielder.. how many times does he have to go left-field and lose before he learns to stick with what works.

Other than that, Kante is just phenomenal.

GDP of Albania lmaooooo

I mean, Man City are still going to absolutely stank the Prem with the amount of quality they have (I'm not going to downplay the players' efforts and talent), and considering they made the CL final this time round I expect them to get a treble next season. That's not to say the likes of Bayern and PSG aren't going to get any stronger.

But did Pep expect to look good when he decided to change tactics? In a final?

Playing De Bruyne as a striker is baffling enough, but leaving out Fernandinho and Rodri with that patchy midfield at the start? No way is that going to work.

Cruz Azul wins the Liga MX. For a team and fanbase that have suffered endlessly for the last 24 years, this is probably going to be the best night for the fans and the club itself for a long time. In a season where Atletico, Inter, Lille, Sporting, Brondby and many other teams have broken their droughts or ended some type of toxic dominance in the countries, this is the cherry on top.

Now we need a new team to get rid of the farmers in Croatia, Bulgaria, Greece, Malaysia, etc. to really get the new ones at the top.

I find it demoralising that Villarreal just won a Europa league yet no matter how good Valencia ever was they’ve never won the Champions League or Europa League.
And Villarreal is a fucking village overshadowed by Valencia.
