Well, a valiant effort from Derby.
Let’s see them relegated from League One next season because the EFL hates them!

Update: apparently it’s bleating sheep.

Wayne Rooney probably will get a Premier League managing gig based on his accomplishments at keeping Derby fighting almost till the very end. Working at a flailing club docked 21 points for financial issues, an ownership fiasco, risk of default, and with a group of players that screams League One standard, not to mention a complete lack of investment given those financial woes, he can do something with nothing.

I’d take him at Villa TBH.
He said he wants to stay at Derby, so much so that he rejected a enticing Everton bid.
Rooney is a dedicated man and this is a club that he wants to bring back to greatness .

If Derby get a stable ownership situation and Rooney wants to make it a long-term project, they'll definitely be out of the storm clouds in a short period of time. Of course that won't stop Prem teams trying to entice him, but who knows.

CL semifinal grades

Man City 4-3 Real Madrid
Man City (A-): A well-rounded performance from the home side as they got off to a fast start thanks to De Bruyne and Jesus's brilliance. Foden and a brilliant strike from Bernardo Silva put them up once again and that was the tone for this thrill fest. City would be disappointed not to convert some other clear chances and probably should have killed off Real Madrid after their second goal. Their real test will be going into the Bernabeu and coming away with a positive result in a hostile ground.
Real Madrid (B): Not exactly a great performance from the Real Madrid backline as they looked quite shaky to begin with. However, their attack is what saved them in the end and ultimately brings them with a respectable result given the circumstances. Every time City looked to be two goals ahead, Real Madrid would bring that margin down to one. Vinicius and Benzema delivered to give Los Blancos a fighting chance heading into the Bernabeu.

This CL football semifinal is crazy. What a choke by Man City, 3 goals were surrendered in the minutes 90', 91', and 95', a span of about 5-6 minutes.

CL semifinal 2nd leg grades:
Villarreal 2-3 (2-5) Liverpool
Villarreal (B-): I'm inclined to give a better grade for them given the circumstances of playing a hot Liverpool side and even scored two on them in the first half to still get into this tie, but the second half they just utterly crumbled. Rulli could have done a lot better against Fabinho and inexplicably went off his line trying to get the ball cleared, but failed and thus let Mane score the third Liverpool goal. A valiant effort from the Yellow Submarine and they fought well, but they simply unraveled as Liverpool found their passing edge and shooting boots.
Liverpool (A-): A great result for the Reds despite the first half hiccup. No quality possession, midfielders losing the ball, sloppy passing, and the nerves of playing in front of the Villarreal crowd got to them. However, Klopp's turnaround in the second half and the introduction of Luis Diaz changed the game, with Fabinho, Diaz, and Mane scoring the three goals to book a ticket to the CL final.

Real Madrid 3-1 (6-5) Man City
Real Madrid (A+): Another Real Madrid masterclass comeback that's even more inexplicable than the ones against PSG and Chelsea. They needed two goals after Mahrez scored a 73rd minute goal. A Rodrygo double in the 90th and 91st minute would put Real Madrid back into the tie, and they finished the job in extra time with Benzema slotting in a penalty and denying City any chances of scoring. Ancelotti will be thoroughly impressed with the spirit and fight his players have and have made every Madridista ecstatic.
Man City (delete club): Guardiola and the City players have to wonder how they managed to bottle it late in the game. Conceding one goal close to stoppage time is one thing, but conceding another goal one minute later? That's gotta hurt even more. They didn't play well in extra time and overall felt so deflated at the end they just couldn't muster any sort of fight. It'll be another missed opportunity for Man City in the CL after their failure to win the final in 2021.

Rayados 2 (1) - (4) 2 San Luis

Rayados (D-)
Started very well the game, being able to score in 20 minutes the first of the night with a banger only to be battered in only 8 minutes of the second half going down 2-1, and once again proving their lack of ability to take back the game, despite scoring a miraculous goal in added time their penalties were awful. Even Barovero was frustrated they could not score, and Andrada simply could not save any penalties and has proven he is bad at those instances.

San Luis (C)
Los Potosinos played decently against Rayados, with that said their game was to stay back and hope to score a goal and push the team further back, which worked in the first 8 minutes of the second half, and stayed as back as they could until they could not stop the ball from going in. They did their penalties very well, their keeper was amazing that game.

I am definitely salty because I actually celebrated that 96-minute goal of Rayados only to go out in pens, I am definitely suffering hard to comprehend how Gallardo got outmatched and become responsible for those 2 goals, and how the team failed to score those penalties. It was so frustrating.

Sorry but no, but oh well at least you are not Pumas. They are definitely not the same as Rayados or Tigres because both of them have actually won against MLS teams in the finals :P
