They have been improving like Japan from 2008–2013, now they have declined a bit, hopefully Kubo and Nishikawa can take Japan into a new successful era

Keisuke Honda has recently retired and now he works as the coach for Cambodia's team.

Cambodia is a bottom-tier national teams even in Southeast Asia. They lost 4-0 to Vietnam in the U-23 Quarterfinals, I believe.

Manager for Cambodia?! I didn't know that. Their run at the 2010 WC and 2011 Asian Cup was really impressive, especially since they won the latter against Australia.

They suck now. Their team has no star, and most Cambodians don't really watch football; they just watch TV shows like Running Man.

Cambodia has never been a country known for its football, only during the 70s like Myanmar but that was just a brief moment in the spotlight

Laos and Myanmar haven't done much either. Southern and Southeast Asia just don't have the football prowess compared to East Asia.

Actually, Myanmar did had a golden era back in the late 60s–early 70s. They finished as second in the 1968 Asian Cup, participated in the 1972 Olympics football tournament and won the Asian Games twice.

That's because they don't have obscene amounts of oil they can use to further any corrupt motives.

2019-20 Football/Soccer Thread

Postby Outer Sparta » Sat Jun 13, 2020 6:55 pm

Since NSG apparently isn't interested in football due to the last thread dying out coupled with the coronavirus temporarily halting leagues, it's a good time to restart the football thread now that there will be action coming up in the weeks ahead (even though games will be played behind closed doors).

Premier League: scheduled to return June 17
Ligue 1: cancelled, PSG declared winners
La Liga: returned on June 11
Bundesliga: returned on May 16
Serie A: scheduled to return June 20 (Coppa Italia ongoing)
Eredivisie: cancelled, no champions
MLS: scheduled to return July 8 with the MLS is Back Tournament

So NSG, what are your thoughts on football returning in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic? Have you missed out on football for these last three months?

Sure thing, Farm. Somehow didn't notice I was posting here instead of creating a new thread, but that stuff happens I guess.

Farm? :eyebrow: Did you know that David Prowse's West Country accent was so strong that the crew on the first Star Wars movie called him "Darth Farmer"?

Damn I'm off my game today. Just like Liverpool in the Champions League this year before everything was halted, but thanks for your help with changing the thread ownership!

Bayern beats Werder Bremen 1-0 to win their 8th straight Bundesliga title!

As for the Premier League, tomorrow's games are:
- Aston Villa-Sheffield United
- Man City-Arsenal
After a three month hiatus, the Premier League will finally be back soon!

If arsenal beats city tomorrow I will literally explode
REST IN PEACE RWDT & LWDT
I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger, traveling through this world below
There is no sickness, no toil, nor danger, in that bright land to which I go
I'm going there to see my Father, and all my loved ones who've gone on
I'm only going over Jordan, I'm only going over home

I know dark clouds will gather 'round me, I know my way is hard and steep
But beauteous fields arise before me, where God's redeemed, their vigils keep

Aston Villa and Sheffield drew 0-0 thanks to a disallowed goal on Sheffield despite it over the goal line.

Man City lead Arsenal 1-0 at the half thanks to Raheem Sterling capitalizing on a mistake by David Luiz. Luiz gets a red card and concedes a penalty which is converted by De Bruyne to put City up 2-0. I'd trust a cardboard box to defend better than Luiz.
