Oh yeah, if I'm not wrong it was against Crystal Palace, Evra did a similar thing while he was at Marseille and they released him for that, also fun fact: Cantona and Zidane both were born in Marseille >:) we have some tough guys hehe

Although I'm not sure about the fan's Neo-Nazi ties and all that stuff, we do know the fan Cantona kicked is a racist and xenophobe.

After all, there are fans who are in that group such as Real Madrid and Barcelona's ultras who are both banned.

A Lazio striker one time celebrated a goal by doing the Nazi salute. In one of those games, it was directed against Livorno supporters, who tend to be left-wing. After all, Livorno is the birthplace of Italian communism.

Yeah, I once saw a Greek player do a Nazi salute during a last-minute goal celebration, according to him, he was only "waving or dedicating a goal to a fan in the crowd"

Who knows, but he was suspended from all Greek national teams by the Greece FA, it was a shame since he had a decent potential, another great Greek player that didn't lived up to the hype was Sotiris Ninis, the guy had some sick skill moves (he wasn't involved in politics though)

Referees were generally stupid throughout the tournament, yet, to be honest, Japan had the same favor, yet they couldn't advance as much as South Korea did. Blatter's fault, though, for bringing those stupid referees into the World Cup.

The refs were inexperienced and were probably intimidated in South Korea and Japan with the host nations. More experienced refs wouldn't be as intimidated by home fans, so the blame is 100% on Blatter as usual.

Yeah, over the years, there has not been as many infamous mistakes in recent tournaments, at least not as many, the most recent one I can remember is Brazil against Croatia in the 2014 opening match. On the other hand, last year's Copa America and U17 WC were heavily favoured by referees towards Brazil smh

The last major mistake, which directly led to establishing goal line technology, was the disallowed goal by Lampard against Germany in.. I guess it must have been South Africa 2010.

Yeah, I remember that, it was a great shot and a shame it was disallowed even though it was a legitimate goal, and yes, it was during the 2010 WC, a round of 16 match

I was randomly in a German themed bar outside of SF at 6am in the morning.. filled with Germans and my cries of outrage were welcomed with 'ja, welcome to '66'.

It's the first time the host nation in an opening match has allowed an own goal as the first goal of the tournament.

REST IN PEACE RWDT & LWDT
I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger, traveling through this world below
There is no sickness, no toil, nor danger, in that bright land to which I go
I'm going there to see my Father, and all my loved ones who've gone on
I'm only going over Jordan, I'm only going over home

I know dark clouds will gather 'round me, I know my way is hard and steep
But beauteous fields arise before me, where God's redeemed, their vigils keep

Only Italians would love Serie R, and Christian Eriksen, a Danish, only moved to Inter Milan, because he was offered an insane number of euros, compared to what Tottenham gave to him.

Inter Milan also gave Romelu Lukaku a bunch of money too. Since Lukaku is black, he got subjected to racial abuse and of course Italian football did nothing to crack down on it. You never see Christian Eriksen get racist chants thrown at him.

On the hand, since he left for Inter, Lukaku has performed exceptionally well, he has formed a deadly duo with Lautaro and that's why they were head-to-head with Juve during most of the season, although they fell in the last few weeks.

Lukaku couldn't fit with Man United so he had to leave elsewhere. Pogba, on the other hand, is criminally underused.

Speaking of Pogba, apparently, Prem players seem to do better in the Serie A, Lukaku is probably having his best season although he had a couple of good seasons with Everton and Man U, and Pogba was a world-class superstar at Juve under Allegri, to the point his transfer was the most expensive one, until QSG and DiveMar agreed on an oil-tinted deal

I'm surprised English players don't play in other leagues such as Spain and Germany that often. Getting international experience in international clubs definitely helps towards strengthening your national team, although Spain didn't need to from 2008-2012 since they were just a glorified Barca squad.
