And then one day you look in the mirror and you realize that you ain't you anymore. You're just another monster, and thanks to your actions, someone else will eventually become as warped and twisted as you. Never forget that the best of us are just the best of a bad lot. Being at the top of a pile of feces doesn't make you anything but shit like the rest. Never forget that.

So I just stumbled upon the results of an autism spectrum quotient survey that showed some social imbalance when it comes to the scores.
The average male AQ was 21.6, while the average female one was 19.0. Similarly, the average STEM worker had 21.9 points, while the non-STEM one had 18.9.
What do you think about this?
Personally I find these results quite believable, given that most people on the spectrum I know are men, and all these men are in STEM stuff.

Just as an anecdotal example, I'm autistic and my interests have geared more towards the humanities than hard science - I'm currently doing a film studies degree at university. Autistic people can have 'special interests' in anything, not just STEM.
That article lists "I am fascinated by numbers" as an example of an autistic trait used in the study, which, I mean... of course defining autistic behaviour by criteria like that is going to skew the results towards people in STEM, come on man...

Though I suppose then the responsibility may be greater for the STEM fields and schools to take a lead in combating stigma, providing education, etc.
