Is that medicaid expansion ?

It is indeed. 75% in and Yes is ahead by 20,551. NYT says that since it squeaked into approval in ruby-red St. Charles County, it'll likely pass.

So many poor rural counties voted against it. Republicans voting against their own interest. I always hate to see it.

A couple more calls:

Dem AZ-6(Phoenix-Scottsdale): Hiral Tiperneni
GOP AZ-9(Phoenix-Mesa): Dave Giles
GOP MI-8(Lansing-Rochester Hills): Paul Junge
GOP MO-1(St. Louis): Anthony Rogers

Further down ballot, in the Maricopa County Sheriff's race, it's a close GOP primary with less than 500 votes between Jerry Sheridan and that man Joe Arpaio again.

He's fucking 88, why is he running for Sheriff again? And does he want to lose...again? The state already booted him out once.

He tried to run for the AZ Senate in 2018 against Kelli Ward and Martha McSally but failed. McSally is doing her best to be Trump's rubber stamp while Ward is the chair of the AZ GOP and trying to outwit other state GOPs in the process.

Revisionism isn't much better imo but that is good to know. Thermodolia needs to read Marx, he was pretty clear that communism is stateless.

Maricopa County is a strange place - take my word for it. Republicans here are all over the place politically, but they all share one thing in common, and that is their visceral hatred of Mexican-Americans. That is their unifier, and for decades, Sheriff Joe embodied that in his authoritarian, thuggish tenure.

He won't win the General, but his primary win is so unsurprising. He's an icon to snowbird and boomer Republicans in Arizona.

Edit: Not primary win, just overall primary success.

He was actually a pretty stellar congressman, so I was def neutral on the outcome, but I think some new leadership in the St. Louis metro could be refreshing.

It is. I could be less hyperbolic, perhaps, obviously not every Republican in the PHX metro hates Mexicans, but having spent 12+ years in the most ruby red parts of the PHX area (and still having my whole fam there), it's probably more true that most Republicans there over the age of, say, 40, is more racist than anybody I've ever encountered in Mississippi or Alabama.

Must be the heat, man.

Worse, he was convicted of criminal contempt of court, in 2017. Trump pardoned him.

If he's not too old to run for office, he's not too old to be in jail.
