I find it very hypocritical at this point. Why should anybody listen to their executives orders when they pick and chose what types of protests and gatherings they will allow?

The partisan nature to what kind of mass gatherings of people are okay (as if a virus belongs to a political party) should probably indicate that shutting down the entire country fro two months was both bullshit and unnecessary.

It absolutely was not. States that enacted the most stringent restrictions earliest have seen substantially lower per-capita-per-mile deaths than states which reopened too early.

In fact, some states are now seeing record-breaking case counts and deaths because they listened to the reopen crowd too much.

You do, generally, have a right not to be killed, though. Wrongful death is a crime in many jurisdictions, and is worthy of a lawsuit in all of those.

What makes a BLM riot more "okay" than a Trump rally as far as the virus is concerned. I'd love to hear this.

Do you try to add at least one strawman to every post? Like, do you do this on purpose? I never said Trump holding a rally wasn't okay.

How does Trump remain president when three faithless electors defect and give the presidency to Biden?

They are assuming that said faithless electors would pick someone other than Biden like Sanders thus sending the election of the president to the house where Trump would end up being president

I agree.

Governor Cooper in North Carolina whose running for reelection gets it. He said the state would press on with reopening as shutting down again would cause more harm that the virus itself. The state is facing a massive budget shortfall and will have to start cutting essential services if things don't get back on track soon.

I hope for their sake that either there isn't a second wave or if there is and it gets bad again they reneg on such a stupid ultimatum.

Lockdowns aren't strictly necessary by any means so long as testing is maintained. But since so many are quick to return to a status quo antebellum I can see us falling into the exact same quagmire four months from now.

Then again maybe it won't matter due to the outrageous size of warchests these days.

Trump is already dumping money into GA, AZ, and TX. Just imagine if he has to expand that to other more traditional red states while attempting to flip/maintain the states he won

The alternative being thousands of people die of sickness, people are too afraid to shop, the economy crashes, the state goes bankrupt.

Though like I said I don't want that decision to have to be made. But taking it off the table so quickly is premature and overly idealistic.
