The single biggest money saver for a buffet is said to be not having any wait staff and being able to buy massive amounts of food in bulk. I wonder if many people will go for $100 or slightly less. Thats expensive, but not "expensive" expensive where its $1,000+ or so. That is surely enough mark up to enable most people to overeat some if they really want to.

Most people aren't really going to be able to pull off something crazy like getting through 20+ plates in one night. Usually the people are too full on drinks or carbs before they're able to get to the meat or actual good foods. And the alcoholic drinks usually have the most profit potential.

I always under-eat at buffets. I’m a very profitable customer for them.

In that case, I'm just giving buffet restaurants money for nothing

It sounds good but I’ve never tried.

I like matcha.

I like tiramisu.

I’d be interested. Where do they sell?

It's like a recipe that I saw on the internet, I'm really tempted to try :p

I’d like to see some pictures of the food, when and if you try to make :)

When going to the buffet, my parents call me The Unprofitable. This is because I’ll do 1 salad, 1 soup, 2 plates of some main dishes, a dessert... and then realize... “oh no! I think I’m done! Can’t each much more oh no!”

I just went down and bought this new Japanese peach-blackcurrent chewy candy pack.

It’s UNBELiEVABLE...

The sugar melts away and gives way to the taste of peaches and the black currents all mixed in a bouncy, chewy candy texture...

I'm currently experiencing a lack of taste due to having Covid a week ago. It's not much fun when things mostly just "taste" like their texture.

My sister in law had COVID and said the exact same thing regarding the lost of taste.

Found the recipe last night, tried it this morning, liked it so I’ll pass it along.

Ingredients:
1- 4 eggs
2- bacon (around 6-7 strips, fried)- sausage or veggies can be used instead if desired
3- 2 cups of milk
4- 1 cup of pancake mix (recipe used Bisquick but any pancake batter will do)
5- half an onion (optional)
6- cheese (grated, whichever you prefer- I used cheddar)
7- pepper (optional)
8- sprinkled hash browns
9- parsley for garnish

Instructions:
Fry your bacon *wink wink*, crumble it and set it aside. While bacon is cooking, best 4 eggs, then add your two cups of milk and 1 cup of pancake mix and bear until smooth. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. In a baking pan, spray it with non-stick spray (recipe recommends avocado spray, making sure to spray the sides too). Add crumbled bacon to bottom of baking pan until covered. Add half the onion (if you’re using it), and top it all with the cheese of your choice. Add a pinch of black pepper to taste (step is optional). Add hash browns (these can be substituted by a vegetable). Cover it all with the pancake batter. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Finish it by sprinkling it with parsley flakes once it’s cooked. Serve.

I've heard it's even worse than when your nose is stuffed and your sense of taste is just inhibited somewhat; so there's literally no flavor to anything you eat whatsoever?

Probably 2 days. I dislike the only 28 votes.

anyone else craving Turkey for some reason? I wonder if I have Covid, maybe its because Im stressing out over my new job but I could almost swear food taste a little blander than usual. Maybe its because Im not huffing a grande coffee everyday? Hopefully its nothing, new place, new eats, no tastes.

Turkey eh?

Can’t get much of that in Hong Kong without paying through the roof. :(

I miss turkey too, especially with a nice cranberry sauce

I hope you do not have COVID :(

Don’t put cream on pie, that’s the opposite of delicious.

But you know what you should put in pie? Bourbon. Bourbon pumpkin pie is to die for.
