I have had it prepared very badly then. The only thing I eat it in is miso soup.

I guess, when I cook with it I use to to replace meat it Asian dishes and they take on the taste of the sauce or spice mix I am using with very little other taste.

I like tofu, as I said. I remember talking with Doctor Franklin in Paris, back ... you know, back then, and he was telling me about a Mr. Flint telling him about tofu around 1770. It took me a moment to realize what he was talking about. I'd had tofu on my journey to the East in the late 9th century - the Tang Dynasty and the Heian Period, you know - and acquired a taste for it, though being a westerner, it was definitely an acquired taste. Doctor Franklin expressed some interest in it but soy milk was next to impossible to obtain in France at the time, so our proposed culinary excursion came to nought.

Maybe we'll get one next time?

*turns hopefully towards the nearest source of light*

As for the question, I avoid gluten for medical reasons (as do several members of my family) and any product (i.e. salad dressings/mayo) made with raw egg (also medical reasons; I'm allergic to raw egg). Though eating Thai food, I've discovered -- which is bit of a pain (as fish sauce is in nearly everything) that I may be allergic to anchovies.

So, if anyone knows a good vegetarian fish sauce that's available in the UK, please give me a shout.

I don't know how good it is, though.

Y'all need to eat eggs. Eggs are gluten free sourced from nonwheat based chickens.

It's hard to find wheat-based chickens. *nodnod*

As someone who eats pork blood a lot, this does explain my gluttony.

I don't know how good it is, though.

The reviews look pretty good. It has to be worth a try. I tried brewing up one of the substitutes they recommended on the internet for fish sauce for the dressing of my dinner yesterday... so, it has to be better than that.

Oddly enough, I've already bought the same brand for the red Thai curry paste (the one I was using had anchovies). Unfortunately, I haven't tested it yet.

Thanks, Farn!

Sure thing! Let us know how it turns out, if you get some.

The option for "I used to have ethical restrictions that were removed for medical reasons and now just feel guilty every time I eat" is missing.

Have you ever tried Cold Stone? The Cookie Minster is the boss :)

Cold Stone is good stuff

Indeed.

The other flavors are good too. They gave some interesting raspberry and banana mixes.

What’s your favorite order?

Brew, I’m at Shake Shack right now :)

I assumed it to be referring to the present, when I have none.

I do know someone with a pineapple allergy, though.

Will do!

If you're forced to eat something you'd rather not for medical reasons, that might count as option one.

I mean, restrictions would normally suggest less options, but if your diet is restricted from your preferences because you have to eat something, that seems to count, too. After all, your health trumps all things.

I did vote for the medical option. It's a somewhat unusual situation, so some creative interpretations of the poll should be justified.

Yeah I think it operates in present tense :)

So “technically” it’s covered in a sneaky way :)

To the poll, I clicked "No and don't know anyone" but I have a qualification.

My mother is supposed to be a low fat and low salt diet, but she eats a lot of meat, fried food and butter so the low fat thing is off.

I keep telling her to just put salt on her food, moderately, and be done with it. Instead she eats three meals a day with almost no salt but can't resist a binge on anchovies or olives or salty sauces. I'm not a doctor, but I think the idea is to keep her blood pressure down and salt bingeing occasionally instead of a low steady intake can't be good for that.

This abomination has eaten raw, bloody meat for seven years and feeds his children with it.

Cellular memory theory attempts to explain why people who have received transplanted organs report having acquired the personal habits of the donor, which were previously alien to them, and the implications are that the spirit acquires the mental characteristics of the creature whose cells have been assimilated into the physical organism of the spirit.

Wouldn't that mean that animals that consume blood are themselves hodgepodges of souls? If the soul enters parts of the body other than the blood (per your thing about organ transplants), then wouldn't that mean they still would amalgamate with yours upon consumption?
