Woops, not a food!

I never really ate mushrooms, until once I ordered a pizza with onions and peppers, and instead I got broccoli, tomatoes, and mushrooms. I ate it, I liked it, but I like pizza with onions and peppers better! :p

Same here. I don't have a particular favorite mushroom, though I do adore a certain type of Vietnamese cháo that's served with oyster mushrooms and thousand-year eggs. Anyway, here's a mushroom ketchup recipe from Townsends.

Although the wiki says it can be eaten directly, it tastes disgusting. The right way to use it is to flavor. The first time I ate it, I vomited.

I've eaten directly just fine, I think, though that was in a fancier restaurant where the taste wasn't as strong. The ones I eat at home have a much stronger smell and do fill my nose with it, though with cháo, it's not nearly so bad.

Hm. Very disappointed that vanilla wafers aren't on the poll. They're my favorite type of cookie.

I have tried thousand year eggs in China and in Taiwan. It’s not as bad as it sounds.

What you do is you eat it with cold tofu, and lots of soy sauce. It’s eaten cold. The texture of the egg is rubbery and soft and it has a very unique, indescribable taste.

Sometimes, they put the thousand year eggs in congee too.

...

However, I get it’s not for everyone. Just like the “Stinky Tofu,” it’s very distinctive.

I don’t know. I know some people consider it food (they “eat” soup) but I’ve always thought of it as a drink personally.

Well, I mean, if you think about it, you can drink it from a cup. It may not be the best thing to drink, sure, but you're still gulping a liquid down.

Someone said something about how a thick soup/broth is more like food and that in England they sometimes say “have/eat soup”

“Eat your soup” or something like that

But I dunno

Depends on if it's a crappy "from a can" soup, or a homemade soup. Most homemade soups are denser and have more ingredients in them. Like a friend of mine makes a chicken noodle soup that has a ton of noodles, roasted chicken, carrots, etc in it. You can't drink that out of a cup.
