I don't eat a lot of foreign food, but I'd say either Mexico or India.

Are they spicier than Sichuan Chinese cuisine?

I have no idea either

Not sure. I don't eat Chinese very often, and if I do, it's always the sweet and sour chicken.

My friend, the first time I ever had Thai they looked at me in horror and said, "You know Thai food is very spicy?" and naive child that I was, thinking eating Mexican made me a badass, I said, "I don't mind spicy. What should I start with? They suggested Drunken Noodles and asked me how hot I wanted them and I uttered the fatal words, "Oh, as hot as you'd normally make it."

I spent the next 40 minutes with tears running down my face, sweat soaking my shirt, and my mouth burning but it was DELICIOUS.

I had heartburn for THREE DAYS and I tell you it was just as fiery leaving my digestive tract as when it went in. I learned very quickly that "medium" MIGHT get you some heat, but bearable, but they generally made it "not hot at all" for anyone who did not specifically say "make it the way you'd eat it."

Fried chicken's my favorite type of chicken. I just don't like teriyaki or orange sauce.

Sichuan and Thai food have a different kind of spicy from what I can tell. Sichuan uses a spice that "numbs" the tongue, while Thai food is simply spicy. When I was in Chin I got warned that spicy food meant spicy, and I replied I liked spicy and so wanted it like they normally cook it. The brought out this ish that as nicely spicy, and I had a the servers staring at the American who who was enjoying one of their apparently spicier dishes. The fish was sooo good.

Sichuan food, that there are more peppers and Chinese prickly ash(make your meat to TINGED MEAT ) in some popular dishes.I can't say how spicy it is, but the business of anorectal hospitals in Sichuan is very good.

Of the three mainstream factions, only one is very spicy, and the other one's taste is lighter(Kung Pao Chicken and Steamed Chinese Cabbage in Supreme Soup,Braised Sliced Chicken with Egg and Milk,Yuxiang shredded pork, etc. from this)

Oh boy oh boy do I love eggs. Boil em, mash em, drop em in a soup! You can fry them, bake them, poach them, mix them, throw them with flour and butter and milk, the possibilities are endless!

How have you consumed an egg today Nationstates?

Once this pandemic dies down, Sichuan is on my list of potential places to visit. I’m usually not too good with spicy foods but it will be interesting to try those foods. They definitely have strong local, distinctive flavors.

The pictures look appealing :)

Yeah Asian food can be and are very spicy. Especially Thai and Indian and Chinese. Ate spicy stuff at a Thai restaurant once and you'd think I went to a water park.

Matcha is like (one of) my havens. The feeling when you have matcha ice cream in your mouth in a hot sunny day makes you feel like you're the king of the world looking down on all th either peasants who doesn't get to taste the same delight as you.

Apparently I never found this thread. I'm surprised by how young it is.

I've eaten matcha ice cream before in a California buffet near where I live, but it's been replaced by another buffet... which doesn't have matcha. Quite heretical, I must say, but at least I can occasionally buy matcha ice cream elsewhere. It'll always remind me of that buffet, which was not only pretty good, but I always associate it with my maternal grandfather. Same with another restaurant o'er in Paradise, Nevada named The Grand Wok, which is also sadly closed.
It's always the restaurants I like that close—

As for spicy food, I do quite enjoy that too, but I must admit that I don't expect anything out of my spice tolerance as a certain Vietnamese-American food trucker's sa tế has been enough to make me hiss. Maybe I'll try spicier one of these days. Anyway, the Vietnamese cuisine that I normally eat isn't extremely spicy (Wikipedia describes sa tế as slightly, for example), but it's still spicy enough for me to enjoy.

Matcha ice cream goes well with a serving of sweet red beans.

In Kyoto, they also sprinkle the delicious green ice cream with cinnamon crystals. The effect is quite... divine.

Ah, those sound really good too, but I don't plan on going to Kyoto any time soon, alas. I'll be sure to keep it in mind, though I figure that I'd probably find it eventually because of my adoration of green tea overall—

The place has lots and lots of Shinto shrines and temples

If you go at the right time of the year, there’s a lot of purple/lavender leaves mixed with orange. Breathtakingly beautiful scenery.

They are big on green tea. :)

I liked the place a lot

Decided to look up exactly what matcha ice cream is and... it doesn't look good. I don't think I'd necessarily like it, either, seeing as I don't enjoy tea without sugar and lemon.

The milk ingredient is obviously greater than any cup of tea. Milk is a buffer and also has some sweetness.

I'll have to try it sometime, but I don't think I'd enjoy it.

To be fair, I didn't like it very much. I think liking green tea is a prerequisite?
