I am very surprised that pasta doesn’t get more votes.

I mean, there’s linguini carbonara, beef lasagna, spaghetti bolognese, spaghetti with clams

Just listing this makes me salivate

And that’s not even counting ramen

A side of pasta in gravy works excellent for a well done juicy steak with some wine. :)

Rice is just such a good vehicle for anything; the sauce seeping into it when you're done with the main dish makes it even better.

Chartreuse is my favorite color.

Indeed. It chews well with Thai curries abs the local takeout meals. :)

It’s not bad

I say pizza :)

However, a good fresh baguette with cheese and salami is quite splendid

Pizza wins in theory but it's not exactly the healthiest so I only have it occassionally (yes, I'm actually not fat... unlike stereotypes some people have about where I'm from.)

I eat baguettes and similar long breads a lot. I just had one even.

Taiwan has lots of good options

In HK too :)

Taiwan and HK are way too far from me but I’m moving to a more cosmopolitan place so I may find a restaurant that serves congee. Maybe.

I’ve heard that croissants can be a bit on the oily side

A pizza-baguette. Don't know if that exists, but it should. It would be tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese on a toasted baguette. A sub sandwich. I would eat it. TG me if you think I should make it

If so, I will make it and post a photo

The best staple food is buckwheat. It's a source of complex carbohydrates, is rich in protein, which is as bioavailable as meat at 90%, and, because it's a pseudocereal, there is no gluten in it. I have it for breakfast, and sometimes make chicken broth with it.

Tomato sauce cheese and bread is always a tasty combination. Enjoy

I'm currently in 'deep' quarantine because I'm going skiing in Vermont

But by the end of the year, I will have made it.

There's a deli chain in Belgium called Panos that sells panizza, which is...sort of a pizza panini.

Don't think they use tomato sauce, though, so it feels like a bit of a misnomer.

Ours is open for delivery. We won't be able to go there because we are going skiing. They have the best dumplings though. They are so good. I'm not exaggerating.

Sadly, no feast this year.

90% sure we'll still have the breakfast, though, so that's important.

Takeout dim sum just isn't the same as sitting down at the oversized table with the lazy Susan and ordering dishes upon dishes from the passing trolleys until you're stuffed to the gills with food and tea... I miss my local dim sum place.
