I used to visit this great Italian restaurant that had the most fantastic lettuce salad... It was soaked with vinegar and black olives and had large sweet slices of tomatoes.

But then it closed down.

Come to think of it, Italian food places seem to die out shortly after I visit and favor them. It’s almost like I carry a curse

Favourite lettuce, lamb's lettuce. Served with a little balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Lovely.

Or little gem lettuce. That's very tasty, too.

Or Chinese leaf lettuce -- either raw or very lightly stir-fried and tossed with a warm salad.

It’s a bit bitter for me but it’s not a bad option
