Depends on what type of person you are. If your fancy is organic, non-processed, healthy food, then no that's heresy. If you're a normal person those should be fine.

I mean I don’t think you need to do all that. Soups are pretty easy to make. All you do is throw stuff in a pot like veggies and boom! Instant veggie soup

Well, it could only be considered one if that's almost the only soup you consume. If you're normal, it would be alright

Fresh ingredients always make the best soup. But sometimes when I'm lazy, I don't want to make a soup.Sometimes I use instant soup as a base for food.So I don't have to spend hours cooking a pot of soup and then use them to make another dish

I don't know if you could call it a soup, but I love beef stroganoff...especially when served over a bed of rice.

It's not abnormal to want to eat healthily and know the ingredients that go in your food. It's a shame that more people don't cook (that, and cup-a-soups lack taste, substance and are rarely, if ever, gluten-free). Really, healthy cooking should be something everyone has to be taught before they leave school.

Never really saw the point of organic, though.

No, it's more a "soup inspired hot drink".

Beef stroganoff on a bed of rice is lovely. Chicken stroganoff is delicious, too.

Imagining healthy cooking being taught in my school is pretty funny. And organic has no point.

I read that, but I stuck to rice, because -- with the crème fraîche -- I always found stroganoff a bit of a heavy sleeper and rice is lighter than pasta (for me).

I might try replacing rice with a small serving of pasta next time I have stroganoff (which probably won't be for a little while).

Oh, I finally ordered some of the vegetarian fish sauce you pointed out from way back here. I should be trying it pretty soon (so many Thai recipes you can't make with no fish sauce), so I'll let you know how it turns out.

EDIT: The curry paste from the same brand has worked out well -- spicier than the previous brand, but very good.

I'll be interested in hearing how the non-piscine fish sauce is. And I'll keep rice in mind next time I make stronganoff. Chicken is good in that and I've done pork, too. You need to make sure the meat doesn't dry out, though. I did some bone-in chicken breasts on the grill the other night and poached them the day before so they spent the least amount of time on the fire.Turned out very well (poached them by bringing them to a simmer and then, after ten minutes or so, moved them off the heat and let the sit in the hot water for two hours or so).

I can imagine a lot of people would think it is a travesty because it isn't being made with fresh ingredients prepared with the utmost care, but I am of the opinion that you can make a good dish regardless of the format the food is in. If the soup has good ingredients and tastes good then I don't mind if it was powdered first. In fact some people prefer that - here is a link to an article praising the "Better than Bouillon" brand of powdered soups: https://www.epicurious.com/expert-advic ... th-article

Better than Bouillon is not powdered: it's a super-concentrated base.
